It does if you follow the index. Ishares MSCI China tracker was up almost 1% yesterday.

Nice link. Didn't know about this before. Also interesting that he shares his personal portfolio, although most of his his fund choices don't seem to be available on FSM Malaysia.

Finally, his total portfolio value is only around SGD500k, which seems low to me given the seniority of his position at FSM Singapore.
*
Where does he share his portfolio?

do you know how many times..kenanga distribute for thier UTs? 1 in a year or 2/more in a year..
*
True.. if you look at price, you don't see the dividend.. in terms of capital growth I think KGF still has the edge smile.gif

why they owes say UT give dividend is like very good.. like they say, buy UT put there 10-20yrs, the unit increase until alot due to dividend.. but i cannot brain, when they give dividend, the NAV drop ma.. then they give u extra unit.. just that when they give u extra unit, if the NAV rise, then will looks like oh u gain more... this is what they explain to me la..

owes hear this from old ppl..
*
They say that because eventually the price will return to the price before the drop, but you will still have your units.. so now you have more units at the old price, so you have a profit from there smile.gif

imo there is no difference in buying before or after distribution.

Yes but the psychological effect (illusion) of getting more for less is kind of fun lol smile.gif

cherroy, now no more Section 108 tax imputation system. Tax on dividends is deducted at source (company profits) and the dividends received by shareholders is already considered NET TAX. Hence, distribution or not, the tax is already suffered. icon_rolleyes.gif
*
Some still taxed though, tax is mentioned in the distribution statement smile.gif

Is this a sign that the UT market is heading for a slowdown soon?

He's right.. the local market is very defensive.. it doesn't spike and crash, and spike and crash. That's why the local market is a long-term bet. Long-term (maybe 10 years or so,) generally the market will perform well. In the very short term, it's kind of meh lol.

But of course he's only talking about the indexes. If you look at the indexes, he's right. But in the US, fund managers can't really beat the index. In Malaysia, some fund managers can totally thrash the index, that's the difference smile.gif

Hi Sifus, newbie here who plans to move his FD into other investments which can help provide better long term gain. Reading through this thread, seems like KGF and EISF are highly recommended. Would it be wise to enter now? Or should I look at other funds since some ppl indicate that we are already at the tail end of a bull run. Can share some advice here?

No one has a crystal ball, no one can tell the future. DCA/VCA if you think it's too high.

Incidentally.. Aberdeen just died today, don't know why lol.
