Few days ago I mentioned "INVESTING WITH EMOTIONS IN THE PLAYBOOK".

FSM came out with an article about it:

Idea Of The Week: Emotions - Your Worst Enemy In Investing [18 July 2014]

There’s a way you can keep your emotions out of investing. It’s a very simple method called dollar cost averaging (DCA).

My PM funds was my performing funds last year when most of my hw was doing badly...this year my PM  doh.gif

I bought CIMB Global Titan Fund when FSM claimed it have a good potential to growth and given 1% sc discount rate.
Now look like the performance is not what FSM predict last time.
Now I even don't trust the recommended list, better do my own research.

Ha my parents wanted to buy gold and I was like... did you really want to buy at a multi-year high lol smile.gif anyway.. a few things :

(1) Does it seem to anyone that FSM Switch buy is slower (takes more days) than FPX buy ?

(2) Anyone calculated the Weighted Average Cost? it seems weird... for instance I bought one fund at 0.4532 but the WAC is 0.4629... or something like that. Shouldn't both be the same if that's the only transaction?
*
The WAC is higher after taken into consideration of sales charge.

Let say total cost of investment is RM1,000 and COI after sales charge is RM980.

No. of units will get if purchase price is RM1.00 = RM980/RM1.00 = 980 units.

The WAC = total COI RM1,000 / 980 units = RM1.0204

The NAV must reach RM1.0204 instead of RM1.00 itself in order to break-even.

It is a fair reflection of your investment cost and underlying value.

but sales charge already means less units, so if you change the no of units, and then you change the NAV.. wouldn't you be charging the sales charge twice?
*
The WAC is calculated based on total COI including SC.

So how to gain exposure to global equity without using local managers?
*
Some of the local fund houses act as a feeder fund which is similar as invest directly into a targeted offshore fund.
For example: RHB-OSK-GS US Equity Fund in which at least 95% of NAV being invested in the Goldman Sachs US Equity portfolio.

U can start from FSM's Recommended Funds and Recommended Portfolios. Use that as a base and learn how to build/structure a portfolio.

In fact, most if not all of the funds I'm holding are/were once Recommended Funds by FSM.

I saw the EISC interim report as at 30 Jun 2014, there is 18 peoples hold 500,001 units and above.
For EIB, 8 peoples is holding 500,001 units and above at the same period.
