sifus.. please explain..
"Preve IAFM+ with Open Pod and High Flow exhaust" QUOTE It gained about 5 hp and very minor 2Nm of torque from around 4000rpm onwards. The open port air filter might have taken in too much air and when matched with a high flow exhaust system, it created less back pressure hence less torque and horse power at the low end. So for those who uses open air filter and a decated extractor on your Proton Prevé, you have to always keep the engine at higher RPM to maintain your horse power and torque. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=773...&type=3&theater In conclusion not efficient to have high flow exhaust on CamPro IAFM+? This may result in higher FC if we keep high RPM? or does it mean not to touch the catcon? This post has been edited by Eugene91: Apr 14 2014, 08:49 PM |

QUOTE(davidke20 @ Apr 14 2014, 10:52 PM) Catalyst a.k.a Catalytic converter a.k.a Catcon, is the 1 to control your emission, further burn up those carbon with heat exchange from your exhaust manifold. ![]() The above quote from your post is correct in every aspect regarding campro. 1) Removal of catcon will mean less exhaust flow restriction, hence your low end response will be jeopardized. Do an example by your own, open up the cap of a 500ml bottle and reverse it see the water flow, it flow very slowly. If you shut the cap, poke a small hole on the bottle body, point the water stream at your skin when it shoots out, you'll scream 2) Exchange of high flow after market filter(be it drop in or open pod), you open the bottle cap, terbalik it and poke a hole on top! Imagine, how do you keep the flow slow? Impossible. You can't drive the car slowly, the low end response is jeopardized. For a CVT transmission, your TCU will take care of all those changes. So, you really doesn't have to worry too much(other than FC) QUOTE(V12Kompressor @ Apr 14 2014, 11:32 PM) yes, it is true IF your exhaust job is just potong and replace job; ie: take out front header, put in 4-2-1 and take out rear muffler and plonk in <whatever> flow exhaust. Thanks for the info sifus! I remember saw a post somewhere also mentioning should keep the catcon even if want to change whole piping. For now i'm hunting for S-Flow muffler only |

QUOTE(davidke20 @ Apr 15 2014, 09:23 PM) It's not the matter should keep the catcon or not. Catcon main function is control emission, has nothing to do with performance. However, the stock pipes are just nice with a catcon to control backflow. If you're talking about performance, you not only need to decat, you'll have to redo the entire piping. Gotta make sure the piping weren't used too big to protect your lowend torque. Twin Loop ok? |

So I went for my 6 month service interval and also updated to the latest ECU software and re-flashed the TCU.
I was told to test drive with mechanic, so mechanic then told me next time I should just come back every 10k km interval, not necessary to follow the 6 month interval. (because my odometer clocked at 79XXkm only) and my EO still "clean"(not that black). For now I haven't tested cold start on my car yet maybe later, baru bangun tido ni UPDATE: Cold start issue seems to be gone. I on terus masuk 'R' and reverse out (No asthma) and 'D' go pusing pusing This post has been edited by Eugene91: Apr 30 2014, 09:56 AM |

Syntium 800 is semi syn so should be 5k km interval if i'm not mistaken.
Syntium 1000 fully syn should be 10k km interval. (i'm using) |

QUOTE(OCMAX @ Apr 30 2014, 11:03 AM) I have to same issue (cold start) from day one. Complain so many times. Service guy told me because I added the brake lock that is causing the problem. What an excuss. Damn! Well, back in December I contacted Punch Powertrain and they contacted Proton on the issue and mentioned a new ECU update would be released by February 2014.Now I added a E-Drive it seem help a little and the gear change responds are much better. Apparently after the update yesterday, the issue seems to be gone. (It's my first cold start for today). |

QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Apr 30 2014, 04:56 PM) curious, using cheap oil and change frequently, is mainly due to budget concerns right? however if you can go for extended OCI, save more money, and have a cleaner engine, wouldn't that serve both of your purpose better? Save labor charges only i guess? or maybe EO too? Syntium 1000 RM196 from SC |
