Can DIY, the hardest part is that your custom HU will almost certainly not have the plug in the picture above. What the shop did in my case was to cut away the above plug and rewire the plug to the new HU. This means the old HU can't be used any more unless you find another plug for it.

Btw how's your clutch? Mine was starting to make noise again but a squirt of WD-40 in the same place made it smooth as butter.
