This might be long overdue, but thought I'd just share something about Shiro. Actually, she was adopted by my dad... heheh. And yea, she is a great little doggy. Very intelligent, and I could train her very easily. She makes the oddest friends though... like a monitor lizard and a pair of owls. We call her Sandy now.

But the real story I wanted to share here is how one good deed (by her rescuers), has been paid forwards (by Sandy). The story goes like this:

It was about a month back when I returned to KL for a week's sabbatical after being away for months in Sarawak. And on one of those days, I decided to go for an evening walk around the lake behind my house with Sandy. I was sitting down and enjoying the evening sunset view with Sandy by my side, when she suddenly perked up, and darted away to a secluded corner of the lake where the canal was located. I thought she had found something amusing to play with, but then she turned back, looked at me, and barked. I followed her quickly... and found her surrounded by a litter of kittens. Small little things, barely a few weeks old, and they were howling madly with hunger as they clambered around her legs.

I took them home and fed them of course, and later found out that they belonged to a mother cat of my neighbor's. The mother cat had died after being attacked by a fierce dog FOUR DAYS ago. In other words, the poor little things had not eaten anything for a long while now, and had Sandy not found them and called me to them, they'd most likely end up being dead.

So in round-about way, a rescued pup had paid forward the kind deed of her rescuers, by rescuing the lives of these little kittens in return. I thought I'd share it here, and sort of encourage people... that what you do... saving, rescuing, and adopting abandoned pets... those kind deeds are not forgotten by these animals. They know what you've done for them.
