Question about cover letter, for general application.

lets say i am an electronic engineer and i want apply for any enginner post in a company what should my cover letter write?
my current cover letter is 'application for a post as electronic enginer' or should i just write application for a post as engineer/ fresh entry enginer'? cos dunno is test/product/pricess engineer etc.
one more question is my cgpa is 2.55 out of 4.00 is it very hard for me to get a job? can i get a job with this kind of cgpa??? pls help.
also agilent and avago tech, easy to enter or not?
