QUOTE(skywoon @ Jul 21 2014, 11:33 AM) i was struggle to get M3 initially, because a lot of accessory taken off by bermaz: reverse cam, front sensor, auto light, auto rain, auto dim rear view mirror etc... I'm interested in the car coz obviously it looks good and reviews say its a drivers' car.compare with my wife's K3, it is kind of basic car for premium price. Owned for a week, i will say never regret to get this beauty!! Pros: most stylish & hot C segment very good performance & handling very good FC Cons: less accessory average sound proofing can't deny this is a driver car, you will know the meaning of zoom-zoom once you step in the driver seat. I'm not all keen on fancy accessories like cameras and stuff. |

QUOTE(guilt79 @ Jul 21 2014, 12:06 PM) Lots of people come here and ask these questions. We don't have a firm answer because we all not car expert like The Stig. wow.. thanks for the comprehensive feedback. But here's my 2 cent review after driving 6 months. First, won't tell you about the specs. You can find them in Net or SA so, skip that. a. Driver POV If you drive those mass production cars like Civic & Altis, you feel M3 a bit different. Different in terms of how you fit in the drive side. Buttons and other important stuff are easy to reach. Speedometer, MZD, panels are very close and doesn't requires you to move more to reach. Just sit like a robot and can do anything. b. Passanger POV Sitting on front driver seat also feels the same as driver. All are within reach. For back seat passanger, you will feel crampy especially you are more than 5 feet 7'. This is because the seats are design for "vertical" feel and not like Altis, where you can recline, this one quite stiff. Also, the rear window is relatively small, can be a problem for those have that dunno-what-it-called phobia. Despite longer wheelbase, the rear can best fit 2 adults and 1 children. If you fetching 3 adults, this car don't really fit for long drive. c. Handling A lot of people might confuse with handling. Because Altis also claimed that their handling is good. Even other lower C-segment car also claim their handling is 4/5. But why people say M3 handling is good? Answer is cornering. You can feel much in control in cornering and felt the directions of the wheels. Others claim thier cornering is excellent, but you have to try M3 yourself. Only other that have good handling is Ford. d. Performance M3 is not the best performance here in low end. You feel sluggish in low end. (Mainly acceleration) But you do feel the power in mid to high end. This is because the Skyactiv GB which mimics the CVT and DCT concept. CVT has always know to give seamless transmission and save fuel. When I'm driving at low end (meaning minor press on acceleration) I felt like driving a CVT GB. When you drive at mid to high end, then you feel the power (Can't comment on DCT because never drive before) However, I agree with some reviewers in Youtube. The Skyactiv GB kinda "lazy" to shift gear. When I felt low power, I switch to "manual" via paddle shift. This is where as I shift to manual, the GB already shift to low gear, and using paddle shift, means drop lower gear. Thus, be careful of shifting manual, advise to use the stick for manual than paddle shift. e. Maintenance So far, can't tell how much maintenance is and cost. The disadvantage here is currently, no suppliers to provide the parts. All from Japan. Good thing is at least the parts in Japan means more durable than local. No? Overall, bear in mind this car is claimed to be build from scratch. It's not benchmark with other C-Segment cars. It just to achieve efficiency, power and fun to drive. This car is more for people towards performance and fun to drive. Something that defy convention. Not actually looking for a family sedan because everyone else in my family has a car, and we have a Fortuner for that. I want something fun to drive, acceleration is preferred over top speed. Actually looking at this and the Altis and Jetta as well. But you know la.. DSG.. lol. |

QUOTE(guilt79 @ Jul 21 2014, 01:52 PM) Thanks brothers. So would you recommend getting this car?But most important thing I wanna highlight is handling. Most of the time, I read car review, everybody in C segment always say handling is 4/5 So, that is confusing as people ask why you say Mazda handling is better since others also good. Coz budget is RM150k.... Not looking for a family car, and definitely no SUV/MPV. Left with this, Jetta and Altis. Dont know much about Mazda coz my family has never owned one before. |

QUOTE(eau-rouge @ Jul 21 2014, 02:14 PM) my simple advice is.... I've test driven the Jetta la... CBU one. Felt really good.. but the DSG fiasco is really offputting. go and test drive all cars..you are the one who's buying..test it feel it.. whichever float your boat, take it.. hehe Not sure if they have the Mazda 3 CBU here in Mazda Kuching. |

QUOTE(guilt79 @ Jul 21 2014, 02:27 PM) Go for Jetta since dunno M3 is available or not. Eh, don't follow the service schedule? As long as you don't follow VWG service schedule, you'll be fine..? My colleague got Jetta. He drive my M3 and say Jetta is better. QUOTE(ppldmc @ Jul 21 2014, 02:34 PM) Current M3 is only CBU. thanks bro. QUOTE(derravile @ Jul 21 2014, 02:37 PM) nice review by bro guilt79 eh I thought the high-speced Altis got VSC? no?i believe the new altis does not come with VSC? its the 2nd most impt after airbags the jetta, can't comment on car performance since i nvr test drive it myself, but hey, its a continental car with tht pricing, all seems well. however, i tink the after sales is terrible, parts expensive, bad service and long waiting time.... my family own a golf tsi, still under warranty, but battery died, cost us rm900 to replace 1, they say battery warranty 1 year oni, plus if we change outside (cost RM300+/-), if leak, warranty void and definitely i guess u wun regret getting the m3 if u are looking into a driver's car, and if u don't mind bermaz remove alot accessories to maintain the gap with the lower range m6 I dont mind the accessories, coz things like reverse camera, I never use (due to habit). I appreciate drivability and comfort (for me as a driver). |
