Got my preorder on Friday evening.
What I like about it so far: - perfect screen size (5" is max for me) - comfortable form factor - gorgeous screen - looks great once set screen color to cool - black looks really elegant compared to the other colours. Then again it's a matter of preference. While I have only used it for two days, battery life is about the same as most smartphones, which is about one day. I charge my phone daily anyway. Encountered continuous 'loading' (blank screen) when I turn on the phone yesterday. Not sure anyone experienced the same. Hopefully this is not a bug. So far, this is definitely an upgrade from iPhone 5s! |

QUOTE(-ahtiang- @ Jul 13 2014, 08:29 AM) coming from L920 I played with the demo unit at the Nokia Store and found that the Tile Size a tad small compared to L920 due to the Full HD display now and there is also no choice to use 2 row of Tile on L930... for those who upgraded from existing Lumias, do you find comfortable on L930 Tile Size? The tile size on the 930 is just nice...not that small compared to 920 (on 8.1 preview). The extra column allows for more personalization and customization, IMHO. |

Got an update notification this morning. Thought it was the Denim update. But alas, nope. Just an OS update with new features.
OS version: 8.10.14157.200 Found this article on the update: Microsoft has confirmed the roll-out of the latest Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 firmware for its 2014 premium smartphone, introduced at the Build Developer conference. The Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 or GDR1, which was announced in July this year, brings the new build version 8.10.14157.200 for the Lumia 930. This build number is similar to the one that was available to Developer Preview devices earlier in August. Build 8.10.14157.200 beings several improvements in terms of stability and performance and many more. One of the major elements of this release is the Cortana support for users in the UK and China. The update will now enable Cortana to work on the Lumia 930 in the said regions. Here are the changes and improvements noticed in build 8.10.14157.200. Changelog Improved stability and performance Imaging enhancements Enriched display performance Cortana support added for UK and China Start screen folders Customisable snooze for alarm clock Narrator improvements L2TP VPN support Internet sharing over Bluetooth Apps Corner Improved selection for calls, messages and contacts A quick note: This update is not the Lumia Denim update, announced alongside Lumia 830, Lumia 730 and Lumia 735. It is Lumia Cyan, reports Neowin. The Lumia Denim update, which comes pre-loaded on Lumia 830, Lumia 735 and Lumia 730, will be released for other Windows Phone devices next month. |

Where is the cheapest place to buy a Lumia 930 (original warranty)? I know there is a LYN forumer who sells it pretty competitively price.
Appreciate your advice. Thanks. |

Did anyone try the Windows 10 technical preview on the 930? I tried it and it nearly bricked my phone. Somehow, the installation was incomplete because when i turned on my phone, I get a continuous "loading" screen and no desktop.
Luckily I manage to restore back to Windows Phone 8.1 using Windows Phone Recovery Tool just now. If not, I will be out shopping for a phone today! I am still trying to figure out what happened but possibly cold be the phone ran out of battery during the final stages of the installation (data being migrated stage) but I wasn't sure as I left my phone on its own. Anyway, I will not try this again. Shall wait for the final release of Windows 10. |
