If you want to play old games its fine to go for XBOX. But very few good games are coming for it and some of them are even canceled(Rockstar's Bully). and the graphic is nicer compare to ps2. even ps2 has alot games...

I think PS2 would be a good deal for you if you consider playing new games (No Halo and Xbox live though).
