I wanna ask, do you guys like the start screen background?

Personally I hate it, much prefer they offer more solid color option : (Simple and elegant)

is that real or a concept?? I like the flourescent theme and grey backgrounds
*
It's a concept, there's no grey background in 8.1 AFAIK but for others, I guess you could find a solid color image and put it as background

Detailed look at Windows Phone 8.1

TL;DR version :
Process called "Dynamic Memory Estimation" will actively watch and adjust the memory cap
No more strict memory cap, less "Resuming" screen

Backstack will no longer close an 8.1 app
You can no longer close app by mashing the back button, have to close on the task switcher
(Doesn't apply to old 8.0 app, they will behave the old way)

Trigger-based execution
App can now run through a trigger (push notification, geofence, Bluetooth LE, schedule, sensor)
(eg. : An app will start recording data when you connect your fitness band or by schedule)

Push to wake a task
App can now run before toast notification is shown, meaning the app can load the pushed information
in the background and show the toast notification when it's ready.
When user tap the notification, everything will be loaded (no more "Resuming..." screen)

Data efficient download
The new .APPX package is more segmented, meaning you will only download the relevant package
(eg. : If you have L920 in English, you will only download the 720p English version)
Also, updating will only download the data which has changed
(eg. : A 5MB app that release a 500KB bugfix will only download the 500KB)

All apps can be installed in SD card by default
Will not worked if user put SD card in another phone, developer can opt-out of the feature

do u guys notice the notification now become more stable and open the whatsapp, line and wechat more fluid and faster than before when tap the toast or notification in action center?
*
It's one of the feature of WP 8.1 :

Push to wake a task
App can now run before toast notification is shown, meaning the app can load the pushed information
in the background and show the toast notification when it's ready.
When user tap the notification, everything will already be loaded (no more "Resuming..." screen)

UPDATE : Sorry guys, push to wake a task only apply to 8.1 app.

just update my lumia 620 to 8.1.. i like it except that the notification delay.. whatsapp especially.. can anyone help? already put it on background task..
*
How long was the delay?

In WP 8.1, the push notification does not show up when it arrive, instead what it does is when it receive push notification, it wakes the app itself, let the app load the message in the background and will show you the notification when it's ready.

UPDATE : Sorry guys, the push to wake task only apply to 8.1 app, and WhatsApp is not a native 8.1 app (yet)

anybody have spare student-developer account to unlock the phone for sideloading apps??

i need to sideload whatsapp...just got my new phone yesterday....prev was lumia900 also unlocked...
*
You don't need a full developer account just to deploy/sideload app, just get an App Studio account and download the SDK which will come with a deployment tool.

But before you can deploy/sideloading WhatsApp, first you need to find a cracked WhatsApp XAP.
You can't used the XAP on the windowsphone.com because it's encrypted.

Here's the error I got when trying to deploy the XAP from windowsphone.com
