Hey dudes,

I have some questions here.

- In InDesign, when I place an image, i didn't resize the image in InDesign to bigger or smaller size, stay as it is original size. But why is the image still blur? When I test print, it really becomes blur. rclxub.gif sweat.gif , printed the whole damn book with some blur images. The lecturer still accept, but I'm thinking of doing a new one for my portfolio, sucks ler the previous one. shakehead.gif

I'm still having the same problem, white outlines/strokelines on black background turn out to be some grayish color when test print. Aiyoo...! sweat.gif

Kindly state the Image spec (size, resolution). Filetype?

In InDesign, I believe the default viewing and printing of images is set at 'Low Resolution'. This can be altered (can't remember how as I'm not on my Mac now with InDesign).

What printer?

White outline turned gray? Did you check and see if your White is 'overprint'? 'Overprint' prints the top layer of color merged with the bottom layer.

The size depending, i got them from the internet, so I'm not sure about the resolution.

I print them at shop printing shop, the big printer.

I tried all different images format. .jpg, .gif., .png, all same result, blur images. shakehead.gif

Change the DPI of the picture in Photoshop.
It'll look smaller in ID, but at least you get an estimate on how big your pic can get without the blur.

Thanks dudes.

Another thing, usually you guys set the dpi to how much? And, what if you are scanning froma book? 600dpi? 1000 dpi? Hmm...

300dpi is quite enough, with manageable file size too.

225 DPI for printing. It's a compromise between 150 (larger stuff) and 300 (crisp stuff)

Ok.

Scanning? This lecturer asked us to scan some strokes drawn using brushes (real brush) with high DPI, 1000 DPI or more.

Does that make any difference? Btw, this lecturer is a facking noob. If you ask anything about Illustrator or Photoshop tools, he knows nothing, real facked up.

So I'm just checking whether he just 'main tembak' or what. rolleyes.gif

just do as it says regardless of whether he's an idiot or not... as long as you know that 300dpi is standard.

Sometimes, long long ago, I scan stuff at higher dpi but at 100% size, that way, I can scale up/down the image and have it sharper.

Not that much. OVERKILL.
Depending on how crappy/ noisy the scanner is, it might be recomended to scan at 600 DPI. Still, it mostly depends on the resolution you need to work on * 1.5 (on both width and length).

That's just me. (Although I know how the PS/Illy tools work. laugh.gif )

indesign use 8bit pic view, means low res.
coz indesign is use for make multipe pages, if it use the actual resolution, surely your pc will hang...
indesign output is use for bigger printer, not for our home/office printer output.
if u still want use that file, export as PDF and print it via the pdf file... sure can.. orait.. icon_rolleyes.gif
