Can starter edition play co-op with regular ed.?

As per the title described. Can D3 Starter Editon co-op with our regular edition? I'm trying poison a friend of mind getting 1. I have googled, and the answer is no, but those article is from quite long ago and they get starter editon from guess pass. Have anyone try it lately or have some news?
