This happens to Ashcraft of Kotaku.com who reside in Japan. At least he was lucky to have this happened after a 1 year period. The bad thing was that the warranty for repair only lasted for 30 days ( for which he has to pay USD 138 ). Might just as well bought a new one.

It baffles as to why this happens to new owner. As i was saying earlier some of them might have been flashed. My suggestion is for them to buy a pirated dvd and have it tested for confirmation.

Looking at the rear of the box for manufacturing date would be a good idea. It was well known that some of defective electronics products, i.e. PDA are replaced with a refurbished unit form Singapore. I just wondering that some of those are getting back t retail circulation. Tot31's noticed that 1 of his friend got an Xbox 360 with a new warranty seal reattached.

Sorry...rephrase! Pirated Xbox 360 games. I once bought an NDS Lite from Imbi Mario and was told that all the NDS Lite sold are pre-flashed. It would make sense since it would be easier for them to have all of it flashed by the technician after delivery, instead of have them flashed at a later stage one by one for their buyers. I have to specifically asked for a non flashed and she has to asked for 1 of them reserved for me before sent to the technician. I wonder if they and others have the same stance on the Xbox 360. ( Try to asked her for non-modded PS2 and she doestn even know how much to charge since all are pre-modded )

I'm not sure whether this works or not but maybe u can try to look at those seal as well to make sure it wasnt tempered.

Pirated DVD are mostly region 3 or set to region 0. I once tried a pirated dvd on a NTSC/UC PS2 and it doesnt works.

It can't be fixed...if it can nobody would be worrying this much.

As for me, just like Judge i've made the same promise that i wont be getting any 360 if i were to get 3rod. I did, so full stop on 360 for me. Unless of course there's an official local launch of the 360.
