all 360 dvd-drive have their own keys in the firmware, and only specific model from specific manufactures can be used on 360. so if you wanna use another same model drive, you have to flash the firmware with the keys extracted from your ori drive.

i think chinsc's 360 still not open yet and didnt void the warranty sticker yet. so far only 3 crazy person opened their healthy good working coniditon 360

the thing is, the key in the dvd firmware are also stored in the CPU/dashboard. it will validate if the key is same or not before it load any games from the drive.

without a backup of your ori firmware, your dvd drive is screwed. maybe if hacker manage to create a de-crypted software then you can extract the keys, but with encryption that take equivalent of 100 years of computing to break it, i don't think it will happen.

or you can somehow damage the dvd drive then send it back to MS and say it's spoiled?
