Hi, I'd like to put my name into the "My X360 is Malfunctioning Club"

Sigh. I'm so pissed off right now.

It freezes whilst playing, with vertical lines on the screen. Then when I restart my 360 again, I see the 3 red blinking lights of doom.....

The console can occasionally startup properly, but whether it can play games or not is another thing. Depends on my luck or something. This thing first appeared whilst playing EM only, but now it seems to freeze on any game...

I have a sneaky feeling that it has something to do with my disk drive. My 360 can play Arcade games no problem, but it freezes when it plays normal disc games. Live is ok.

Sigh...so now I'm stuck with a console that can only play 80s games... sad.gif

The 3 red lights doesn't indicate an overheating problem, but a hardware problem. I know that mine isn't really an overheating problem, coz my 360 freezes just minutes after powering up, and then the 3 red lights of doom... sad.gif

I don't know, maybe I should try contacting MS S'pore see if I can send it over there...

yeah, when I bought my machine (RM2K or so that time) I had to scrape for every sen that I can find to buy it. Now that my machine is dead, trying to find another RM1.5K or so for a new console is another huge task, especially with other things in life that takes priority like my car, family, friends, blah blah blah sad.gif

Which is why I feel so discouraged now. Most likely I'll hold off buying a new console until DOAX2 comes out. It's the only game that I really really wanna play at the moment tongue.gif Hopefully all 360s will be more stabler by then too.....

I did actually, but they gave me what sounds like a standard response:

QUOTE
Thank you for writing Xbox Customer Support!

I do apologize for the inconvenience. I understand that when you play a game, use the Xbox Dashboard or the Xbox Guide, or wait for the console to start, the screen may freeze, but you do not receive an error message, and no lights flash on the console to indicate a problem.

Please try the following steps to resolve the concern youâeuro(tm)re having:
1.    Restart the console.
2.    Determine whether the issue has occurred more than one time. If this case is the first time that you have experienced this behavior, the issue may not occur again.
3.    Determine whether the Xbox 360 console is overheating. Make sure that the console is not in a poorly ventilated environment or near a heat source. Heat sources include TVs, computers, monitors, and other electrical devices.
a.    If the Xbox 360 console is in a poorly ventilated location, move it to a location that has sufficient ventilation, such as on top of a table or on the floor. If the issue is resolved, the previous location likely did not provide sufficient ventilation for the Xbox 360 console to correctly function.
b.    View the Xbox 360 instruction manual for information about correct placement of the console.
4.    Make sure that the Xbox 360 console is set to the correct time and date.
5.    Remove all unnecessary peripherals, and then test to see whether the problem still occurs.
6.    Determine whether the disc that you are using is the cause of the issue by testing several similar Xbox 360-compatible discs in the console. If the problem occurs with only one disc, use a disc of the same type, such as a game disc, a DVD movie, or a music CD, to test whether the problem is the specific disc.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, contact Xbox Customer Service

For further assistance, please don't hesitate to write back or call Xbox Phone Support

I find no. 4 interesting....set the console time and date?? That's the first time I heard of such a solution tongue.gif

I don't think any of them applies to me, but maybe I'll give each one a shot when I go back.

its not caused by the power adapter since im using it now with my new console..so it shud be the console itself...n most likely to be d solder joints problem...coz thats d only fault I can think of right now since d error code was 0102.....yup bro dark..like bro judge said...try to ask MS first...u might be able to get a free repair for ur console if u r willing to wait....but most of the time they will still charge u for the repair which they have set for $130.00....thats minus shipping n call charges...so sum up it would be close to rm1000 to repair the console....and it cant be guaranteed that u will get back the exact console..they might change it to the refurb one n if say they've managed to repair it...i bet the problem will still persist in 1-2 months time...

considering all the above.....that is why i bought a new unit..then sell all the new accessories...which if u r lucky can cover almost half of the unit price.....after all..all i need is just the console...

Interesting idea laugh.gif

But if I can repair for around RM500 I don't mind.....if more, then not worth the hassle, like you said there's a chance it'll break down again anyways.

I doubt it, it actually doesn't come up with anything, the 360 just freezes.... no red lights, no error messages, just freeze..... the red lights only come up after the freezing

Interesting.....the second problem in the video, the graphics one, is pretty much what I get now. But a bit risky, and I don't really know how to open up the 360....

I dunno, I've read many horror stories of people who sent their broken 360s, and received a different, refurbished one when MS returned it sweat.gif That is just full on freaky.....

Without a doubt the 360 has been the most problematic console I've ever owned....... I owned and played original games for PS2, Xbox, GC before and never ever encountered hardware problems for so long. My 360, just over 6 months and it's already dead... doh.gif

Better red ants than red lights..... tongue.gif

Aiyah...I hope Djinn brings in the latest, problem-free batch of 360s....I don't wanna have to buy a third 360 in another 6 months shakehead.gif

Hey jino! Where are you located!! I'm sending my 360 to you to repair!! Seriously man, if you can fix it then I would really really like for you to fix it for me.

But not sure if mine is the same problem....I've had my 360 horizontal for pretty much most of the time, so the thermal paste shouldn't have affected my other ICs....

Anyhoos, congrats, and I'm coming to your place soon! laugh.gif
