Ehem....ehem...how to begin??

yeaaaaaaaayyyy ...i've successfully gave my xbox360 a kiss of life...
As planned...I went to bro goodspeed house at 3 to start our special op on our bloody dead xbox..we've done both HOT AIR GUN FIX & THERMAL PASTE MOD..first we need to prepare all d tools required:

1. XCM tool
2. Torx allen key (to open all d silver screws) 'star head allen key'
3. Torx screwdriver size 8 (T8) (to open all d black screws) 'star head screwdriver'
4. Alcohol or desolvent or Articlean or Wine (us using wine sponsored by bro goodspeed )
5. Heat gun (black n decker)
6. Tin Foil
7. Nanofusion Thermal Paste

First use the xcm tools n torx allen key to open d xbox case.Follow the tutorial here Opening The Console..d tools used by them are quite incorrect...so use d size we've mentioned.

The XCM tools:



After done opening the case,use d T8 screwdriver to screw open all d 8 black screws ...then use it again to unscrew another 3 blackscrews on d RF unit (power button).Then detach the RF unit from the main board.Now unplug the fan then push the back of the console a bit to give some space for the fan to come out.

Then you will have to remove the X heatsink holder (X clamps) underneath the circuit board.Use a plyer to unclip it.This process would be a bit hard n really pain in d a**.Will put the videos up later.

After that you guys can detach the heatsinks and voilla...there are your CPU n GPU being smeared all over by d thermal paste.Very poorly done by MS.Some of the thermal paste even get between the ic's legs like bro jino said and might cause some problem.This might be the root to the 0102 error codes.

So using xbox live prepaid card or any unused card of course...use ur credit card for better results ,scrape away all d thermal paste then clean it up using alcohol. We used wine to clean it...not that efficient though ..hopefully after this no red ants will come n hunt my 360 .

Follow this tutorial for better results:
Thermal Paste Clean.

Do not follow the thermal paste appliance step...just the cleaning steps.In other words dont apply the thermal paste first la.

After your CPU n GPU have been cleaned,prepare your circuit board for hot gun session.Follow the video tutorial.

Hot Air Gun Fix

After 20 mins then its time to apply a new thermal paste on both CPU n GPU.We used the nanofusion (coolermaster) thermal paste...now follow the thermal paste appliance steps.But dont put too many...put even smaller amount than suggested.This is because when u put the heatsink back n tighten it,it will squeeze the thermal paste and if u put too many,it will ooze out again and cause problem again for the ic's.

Now,assemble everything back together and cross ur fingers n pray it will work.It worked for me though thank God.

Conclusion,Hot Air Gun Fix will help the loose solder back in place and the Thermal Paste Mod will help you to clean some of the original thermal paste that oozed out and blocking several IC's and replace them with a better thermal paste.The 0102 error code might have been caused by the loose solder or by the blockage on certain IC's legs.

So now i can confirm that the hot gun fix and thermal paste fix both will help revive ur dead console.

Tribute to bro goodspeed for the hot air gun and space to work..his roomla...very messy now..hehe sorry bro x sempat kemas la just now..u were in a hurry..and also to bro String for the XCM tools..owe u one bro...

Hope this tutorial will help those facing or will face the same problem.Goodluck!!

I've done a test run last night just to see whether there will be any problems or not.

1st test = 2 hours of gaming
All went fine without any lockups,hanging and graphic error .

2nd test = 6 hours marathon - normal mode
Switch it off....let it rest for 2 hours then switch it back on again...all went fine..boot up first time.

Further test coming soon.Will keep u guys updated.

2nd day of testing = successful

8 hours running non-stop downloading.....still goin strong...enuf testing hehe...now simpan...

oiitt bro...aduuhh...kesian ko..huhu...xpela aku paham perasaan ko...mmg x best rasenyer....well actually the one I revived last week also gone dead again on friday...so will go to bro goodspeed's house again to borrow his father's hot gun....will probably go there sometimes nex week...so kalo ko nak join...contact aku 0133658381....rasenyer if hot gun pun it will revive ur xbox for a certain limit of time...im selling my xbox now..too many problems lah...will wait for newer batch then buy again...

nowadays many factors can coz problem to 360....nyko intercooler..thermal paste oozing out...loose av port...solder joint loose....etc etc....almost giving up for xbox...

all i can say is just minimize ur gaming time and just put 3-4 standfan around ur 360 each time u play....then d 360 will be quite happier to live longer than usual

ihihihi i know....its ok i think to let ur console on overnight for downloading coz ur GPU n CPU are in lazy mode at that time ...so no extreme heat will be produced by them....what i meant was dont play games overnight coz that just gonna makes ur console go kaboom for those who unfortunatela.. ..coz ur GPU n CPU work like hell when u play games...

wassup guys.....hurmm seems like another 2-3 of our members faced the red lights thingy ...sorry to hear that....just settled down now..bought myself the XCM high speed cooler ..will let u guys know the results...bro kabadi n windows sori tak dpt nak gather hari tu..too busy settling matters before goin back...to others..dont forget to 'generate money' for upcoming games...n of course Wii...already had it preordered for 179.99 pounds...cheaper than 360 premium but same as 360 core...yeay

Ok guys.....mr postman delivered this cute small little package downstairs n i picked it up full of excitement..cant wait to install this XCM high speed cooler into my 360....

So the work begins....



Opened the cute colourful box and took out all the stuffs in there...just to check everything present as described...



Everthing seems to be present...so lets tear apart my 360 virginity...



10 mins...finished ripping of my 360 skirt....looking at the ugly black fan(but still dah byk berjasa to me) hehe...



20 mins...finished installing the new XCM High Cooler Fan....



how it looks like when attached with the external LCD display speed controller...



Again...looks pretty cool when switched on....



This was the temperature after 2 minutes switched on and the RPM of the fan...and in Dashboard mode



This was after inserting GRAW...n let it play the intro video...



When playing games the MAX temperature GPU will go is up to 60 degrees
CPU temp stays fluctuating around 43-46 degrees

And Voilla there u go.....absolutely far more better than stupid nyko...the fan is so strong u can feel the air blows out at almost every ventilation holes around d 360...

U can set it up manually or automatically...just set how fast u want the fan to blow or just let it adjust automatically...superb...

Totally recommended......bought for 32 pounds including shipping from divineo.co.uk..
