hello guys, i need advise from someone experienced with buying nikon dslr with yellow warranty card from japan. i would like to ask how check if this is covered by nikon malaysia?

the reason i'm asking is that one of my friend and i bought a dslr recently in lowyat (Tarita at upper ground floor). the shop staff mentioned that it's original nikon set and warranty is under nikon malaysia. being a complete newbie we just trust the shop owner as this is the only shop that offer body+lense that we want. (price is not that cheap too, so no doubt of grey set) plus i did check Tarita appear in nikon malaysia website dealers list. anyhow after purchasing then we read on the internet there's japan set and it's considered as grey set and not covered by nikon malaysia. re-checking my receipt i did see (J) mark under my item list. i remembered during buying i'd ask what is (J) mean, the seller says it's normal company code. i think i just got fraud. if that's the case, would anyone please suggest what should i do?

update: went back to the shop. nicely talk to one of their staff and they replied that one of their staff is still new and don't know what they talk about. so there was confusion when buying the camera. they are willing to exchange 1 to 1 for the body only and i don't have to add any extra money. now i have yellow warranty card with nikon malaysia sdn bhd.    

Why should you upgrade to new lens?
What is your purpose or aim in photography?
I will say your 18-140mm is gud enuf already.

Unless you wanna shoot something macro for example, then need to get another type of lens.
Or else just stick with that lens.

Some people might suggest you to get 50mm f/1.4. Yess, the lens is good but please don't talk like a pro.
In fact we all just amateur, between 1.8 & 1.4 for us, nothing much different.

buy 24-70mm f/2.8 , good enough.

if you feel expensive, that's means you still good with your current lens and yea, no need change la haha.

That sounds like a good excuse for you to get full frame ! bt agito stuck with his d70s 24-70 combo for many yrs oso o.    bt in the end still gt d800. 

24mm on FF is good enough for almost all shots already I would say
Though I try to avoid shooting 24mm too much since even the 24-70mm has distortions there

I just i just bought Yongnuo YN-565 EX for my D5300
i't working fine,

i try to use that flash off the body and i found that my D5300 don't have commander mode function,
how to make my flash working ? can i use wireless function on D5300 for this situation ?

All flash need connecter (wired or wireless) to sync with shutter when off from the hot shoe, right?
My first flash (still OTW) is just RM30+, so dunno about proper flash

almost all, last time even flagship D3s also sony sensor.
among current models...D800 also sony sensor, so probably D810 and D750 also.
seems only models like D7100 and D4 not sony.

i dun have expensive L lenses,  easy for me to jump to nikon
i love landscape, high DR is plus point for me ..

guys, recently i'm planning to get a 70-200 f2.8 vr2 and mostly use for event photography. However, i'm thinking to try it out for bird shooting, would it be recommended to combo with tc1.7 or tc2.0 III? Otherwise, will the Tamron 150-600 will be more suitable not only in term of price?

Some say for 24-1200mm F4, they advice to get 3rd party lens which is sharper (or more less same) but with good price compare to nikon.

Sadly no budget now, so still going with my buddy D90.

Checked in shashinki, like Msia set @ RM998 and import set @ RM851 for bot non-vc. Time to hunt in garage sales!

Hello Nikonians!

I'm new in photography & planning to buy a Nikon D5300. Should my reply isn't approriate enough to be posted here feel free to replace it to any thread else, thanks. Well back to the main point, I found that perhaps D5300 is my preference to kickstart my hobby & I plan to buy from Lazada since they sell the camera with telephoto lens priced around RM2.3k. I'm aware that DSLR sold by Lazada isn't provided with local warranty which it'll fall into grey set/AP set category. My concerns pertaining to the matter are:

1) If anything happen to my camera or lens, can I still send them to Nikon center for service & repair? Or should I opt for service center outside Nikon? (I know I'll have to pay since it's not under any of both center's warranties, just wanting to know whether they'll accept AP set DSLR for service & repair)

2) Do you think the chances of having issues with the camera & lens within a year is high? Because if it isn't I rather buy from Lazada since buying from Nikon local distributor won't make any difference because the warranty can't be claimed after 1 year. If I'm wrong do enlighten me on this matter

I stay in Sg Buloh & I haven't surveyed the price yet but I saw Nikon combo deal which D5300 with telephoto lens being sold for RM3788 while the ones sold by Lazada are priced at RM2361. FYI Lazada sell them as grey set, not local set

just go to the shops in pudu plaza. think they offer good price if you pay cash. better still the famous shop in pertama complex.
