I would advise that you read up about the basics of picture composition. Most importantly currently get to know your camera and its functions well. Like how to change a setting fast (on the fly). Ya taking lots of pictures really helps. After a while it will all just gel up and you will be taking good photos smile.gif

Ai ya I'm just a novice enthusiastic don't la call sifu (but some here have reach that level and above la). I'm just sharing my experiences with you only la.

Funny thing is that you will find that some of your experimental shots might turn out to be fabulous (by fluke tongue.gif ).

Enjoy yourself!

There are some vertical shorts, I cropped off the sides way too much, the photos look so skinny. Some I cropped neither squarish or rectangular XD.

I guess I have learn how to properly frame the photo rather than depend too much on crop @@''
*
Or you could crop while maintaining aspect ratio.

Most commercial photos are crop to a certain extend. This is done so the picture balances up for its intended use. Hence the huge mega pixels of modern day camera. This allows you to crop while still having enough resolution for print. If you don't need to crop you wouldn't need so many mega pix.

Maybe some sifu here will want to comment more on this?

As suggested previously, you just need to fix the aspect ratio when you are crop and you'll be fine thumbup.gif
For vertical shots, even if you crop, it will still turn out "as shot"  nod.gif
*
You need to teach him how to crop la tongue.gif

Thanks. Somehow I still rather use unconstrained then XD. Just askin, not everything needs to be kept in according to the aspect ratio right?
*
Lalalalala, Then don't complain your pictures not balance la or look funny la etc etc bla bla bla whistling.gif

If you ask me photos are a product of creative process so there is no right or wrong, as long as the end result suites the creator's intended expression it should be fine. Have you been to any photo art expos? Some of the pictures are really odd and creative (but I'm referring to the photos la not the crop ratio la) tongue.gif

Most importantly enjoy yourself and express yourself unless you are doing a shot for a job then you better shot to your client's want's and wishes tongue.gif

Ai ya who makes which component does not matter la. Its who can make the best combination and produce the best results that is the most important. Producer of hardware may not be the best due to factors like software and image processing algorithms.

You go open you led tv or any electronic item you will find components from various companies including competitors. Its who can produce the best mix that is most important.

Okay i will stick with D5300

D7100 dont have that lcd rotate feature thingy. LoL
*
Trust me that rotating LCD thing you will hardly use it. I have a D5100 and only one time I use the rotating LCD, that was when I had to shoot above a group of people. You should consider a second hand d7000.

The shops you mentioned the price are quite cheap, if were to compare to Photokem type of chain stores.
But they will sure charge 3%.
*
just go to the shops in pudu plaza. think they offer good price if you pay cash. better still the famous shop in pertama complex.

Indeed so, but just think it this way, if you are going to buy a 600mm lens, will you carry that amount of cash?
In Qatar, people are bringing rm200k cash to buy a car as the security are very good, but does this apply to Malaysia also? Just go to any news website and almost everyday sure got 1 robbery case.
Like me is having MBB cards, can get TPs which later convert to vouchers, sure will try to use it and no need to bring cash nod.gif
Few years back I do buy any big item with cash, but not now.
*
Ai ya unless you leave the bank you walk around with how much cash also nobody know unless you go tell somebody or you walk like you are carrying lots of cash always looking left and right.

Call me crazy but i feel ok carrying up to 100k in my bag. Just act like biasa only la. The bargaining power when paying cash is very good. You go Lowyat and ask price in big shops like viewnet and all it. you tell them you pay cash they give you more discounts. I remember the look of the ppl in a branded store when i just pop out 40k cash when buying my stuff. Surprise and awe isn't even close to describe the service and free stuff i got after.

Don't tell me you the handgun type of guys that even 20k you lose your cool already?

Or you could be like me and make friends with a few reputable shops in Lowyat. Then bank in or transfer the sum into their account then go pick up the item while taking more free stuff on the way out of the store. You buy 10k and above and then pick up a few things that cost below rm100 I'm very sure they will give it to you free.

Please la don't make it sound like Malaysia is like Philipines. or other third world country. Yes there are lots of cases but nothing like other 3rd world countries ya. We are still very safe when compared to lots of other places, Paris and Italy included!!

you guys should stop listening to your mothers and go travel to other third world countries. Then you will see how lucky you are.

Haha, so what actually they giving out? Yes, I think will head down to the shop to do cash and carry deal.
*
Well that guy is thinking of buying this 600mm prime.

Price is bout rm33k+

I will be walking away with some free stuff for something so expansive. Plus paid in cash, no CC etc. The shop will be happy to give away things like err... even a tripod below rm500 can I think.

Assuming his margin is at 10% (rm3.3k). Even at 5%(rm1.65k) he can afford to give you lots of free stuff. Cassh he doesn't have to use his own money at all. If he has credit wah then he can use the money to turn.
