Not neccesarily an XE-2 la haha, but mots people love the image quality of Fujifilm cameras~ And not to mention the retro design XD

And yeap, that's what I've been telling a lot of enthusiasts currently using DX machines  laugh.gif , sooner or later people will still turn to mirrorless because of the portability laugh.gif If he/she can just skip the FF part, can save a lot of money yo~

I'm sure many (including me) joined the world of FF because we were curious to see see how well a FF performs. And at the end of the day, I guess most will learn that its really the skills that matters. And its not like mirrorless cameras are bad haha, they offer great performance for the portability- a balanced machine that many are willing to sacrifice ergonomics/ruggedness for~

This is just my opinion la haha, though I think its logical hmm.gif
Having said that, I'm still keeping my D800 for my macro shots, definitely will need the weather sealing and ruggedness when I enter the forests  laugh.gif

after go to big n heavy camera...then find out go travel is killing... flex.gif
and then start to look for something small...

Hello all sifus here,
Would like to ask for guidance and teachings.
I'm a newbie here. And i want to learn more on photography.
What body and lens would all sifus recommend me to get?
Where can i get them? Regarding warranty and all, is it wise to get it from overseas? Like Bangkok for example? Hope all sifus here can allocate a little bit of their precious time to teach this newbie.
*
before that u should give us your budget..else ppl will tell u the 3 trinity and D4s rclxm9.gif
where to get? i think best still getting local set. Even getting AP set, get from a known seller that can help u settle the warranty issue if encounter anything.

Thanks for the advise. Btw, anyone of u feel nowaday, the photo shoot by hp some time quality better than DLSR? Specially Samsung Note 3, day time, shoot landscape photo with high contract, i feel note 3 color and detail is much more better compare to my D7000 photo with 17-50f2.8 lens.
*
phone camera has small sensor. this give bigger dof and everything basically in focus and give u have the feel all is in focus and much detail compare to dslr that has big sensor. But then this is only good to view in the phone or small screen. When u transfer it to computer and look in big screen then u will notice actually is not that good actually.

QUOTE(jepertine90 @ Apr 18 2014, 10:08 AM)
especially with Iphone , or the new google camera with lens blur.. bokeh in technology.. so good~
*
also the HTC M8, that u can set where u want the bokeh later tongue.gif

but.....when it come to low light condition and fast moving object...then u will dont like the phone camera.

Hi guys, in your opinion what would be the two ideal lenses (1 spare and 1 fixed to cam) you would bring to a vacation?

I'm currently using the default 18-55mm lense. Photos taken during the day has very crisp colors but not for the ones taking during the night. I understand this could probably due to my lack of skills but just curious what do you guys typically bring to a vacation.
*
to avoid thing like how come i no bring this, no bring that...
bring all u have if space is not an issue tongue.gif

Thank you everyone for your input.

I was just checking out the prices on 50mm lenses and noticed the differences in prices. what gives? also what are the differences between the D and G?

Would be great if the sifu here can share some insight  biggrin.gif  hehe

Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF ~MYR400
Nikon 50mm f/1.8G AF-S ~ MYR700+

Nikon 50mm f/1.4D AF ~MYR1000
Nikon 50mm f/1.4G AF-S ~MYR1800+
*
not sifu just share my experience
i own 3 of the lens below. tongue.gif dont ask me why

Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF ~MYR400
Nikon 50mm f/1.8G AF-S ~ MYR700+
Nikon 50mm f/1.4D AF ~MYR1000

at the end it sell off all and keep only 50mm f1.8g, so far the best i would say biggrin.gif
but if u using this on DX body, suggest you get 35mm f1.8g for greater view coverage. the 50mm on dx is very very tight...

for main differences
D lens:
- old lens
- with aperture ring built in (u can adjust the aperture by turning it)
- no focus motor. focus will depend to the body example d300s, d90, d7000 n etc...
- noisy when focus
- touch build, normall all metal body

G lens:
- newer lens
- no aperture ring. fully control by camera body
- with build in motor. camera like D3xxx and D5xxx can auto focus
- very quiet when focus

i first own the 50mm f1.8d, reason is simple...it damn cheap to buy 2nd hand and that time i just get D7000.

then later found a good deal in ebay on f1.4d and i get it asap then sold the f1.8d. but soon or later find out the view is really really small in crop sensor then decide to sell it because the usage is very very low.

after getting d600, i buy back the 50mm f1.8g lo...but i still feel it not wide enough for general use tongue.gif

This thread lacks macro shots  laugh.gif  laugh.gif

Shots taken at FRIM, unfortunately there was still not a lot of wildlife at the moment. Not sure whether its because of the recent dry season or because FRIM sprayed the entire place  hmm.gif

Varies from subject to subject haha laugh.gif
Shot 1 and 3 were take quite close (~5cm-6cm) since the subjects are not known to move/flee  tongue.gif

keng...the magnification still very high and yet so detail...

by right with extension tube, the distance between the lens and object need to be nearer rite?

What they had done to the cameara (taken from the service invoice): replaced shutter, aperture, tapes, rear rubber, pc adjustment, checking and general service.
Result: no idea...but i still spot one oil mark on the top left corner. maybe they didnt clean it properly before send back. time will tell when i shoot more later biggrin.gif

anyway...thanks Nikon Malaysia for it kindness for this FOC service.
the overall service history can be found in my signature.

What is the base plate for? For ARCA plate?
*
yups..is a arca plate but then special for D600 body only. It has a curve on the edge to fit the camera body nicely so that it wont slip.
my ori plate come together with tripod one, when i put the camera in vertical then the body will slightly slip down. i need to lock it very super tight then only it able to hold it.
