Need advise.
If I were to use Nikon D750 and would like to retain my Canon flash - what's the best way to trigger them? If not, does anyone of you know which brand of 3rd party flash (eg Phottix, Nissin, Metz) can response to Nikon CLS? |

QUOTE(Everdying @ Oct 16 2014, 10:26 AM) canon flashes have no optical trigger right? has optical, don't think it works with other brand signals.cheapest option is to buy those optical slave hotshoe triggers, then set the nikon flash to su4 mode to trigger it...at least in theory it should work most 3rd party flashes can respond to nikon TTL. cheapest of the lot is probably the yongnuo. will check out the other brands. Phottix now has Mitros+ to consider. |

QUOTE(LegendLee @ Oct 16 2014, 10:51 AM) I'm using phottix strato 2 to trigger Nikon/canon flash from Nikon/canon dslr. i don't use TTL for flash works. Most basic of requirement is just to be able to trigger. Just need to mix and match the trigger/transmitter type. No TTL though. Good thing about phottix is that most of their triggers are compatible with one another regardless of model. EG: their strato lineup is conpatible with their Odin line up. this is the path I'm thinking of. cross brand but use basic signal to trigger. |

QUOTE(Maniac @ Oct 18 2014, 10:46 AM) Which Canon flash unit you using btw? 430EX II's optical trigger is by responding to the flash on Canon camera body, light pulse. As far as I remembered, Canon does not really has any su4/eye-mode/optical slave built-in, what they have in the newer model is the Wireless TTL mode, which does not work by seeing simple flash. The cheapest option to retain the Canon unit would be getting some of the cheap wireless trigger such as yongnuo lo. Some references maybe, http://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/2779523 Probably sell off all my flash and get some Phottix. |

about the video on switching brand - LOL on some points.
even more LOL to compare Sony A7S vs Nikon D4. to me it's very simple - on lens image stabilization alone is enough a reason for me to stick to SLR and I don't like EVF. |

Sony A7 series definitely has very good image quality, I wouldn't even doubt it one bit.
As for image stabilization - this part can go a bit lengthy. Sony's older line like Alpha SLT camera and NEX, and also mirrorless from other brands have sensor but they use stabilization on sensor so all lens used will be stabilized. Sony's A7 and newer NEX for example, does not have in-body stabilization but has OS on lens, which I think is better. So which mirrorless? About his D4S vs A7S comparison - one has to consider, the A7S does not come with weather seal and would very likely to fail when conditions are harsh. D4S was build like a tank. |

FX setup is less forgiving when it comes to DOF.
in Bart's photo, there are 2 issues 1. shutter speed 2. DOF for photos where 2 subjects are laid as such, i recommend using no less than f/4. focus on the subject that's in front. |

QUOTE(BaRT @ Oct 31 2014, 11:55 AM) And he also mentioned that ALL Nikon camera using sony censor, is that true? Nikon has been using Sony sensor for a really long time, that's why Sony users like to use that as an "argument point" when talking about imaging technology. I tot only D90 and a few model only. |

I don't have any comparison but I wouldn't be bothered either.
The U2414H works fine out of the box and the color is a matter of your calibration. |

QUOTE(BaRT @ Nov 24 2014, 09:15 AM) At my kiddos school. The distance between my lens & this lizard only 1 feet... Like Tamron 24-70 f2.8 VC USD perhaps? Some say for 24-120mm F4, they advice to get 3rd party lens which is sharper (or more less same) but with good price compare to nikon. The 24-120 F4's issue is not sharpness, I've been shooting wide open and it turns out just fine. The weakness of 24-120 to me is the 1. light fall-off at the corners 2. detail loss towards the corners 3. barrel distortion Generally they work fine. Refer to the link about for photos taken with 24-120. |

D90 is still a very capable camera by today's standard.
