QUOTE(QiAnG @ Apr 1 2014, 05:08 PM) Never realize I posted that many in the previous thread o.o Normally what I do is, if I'm really near to subject I would use the corner AF points. If I'm relatively far away then I would rely on the middle points (or any of the 15 cross sensors).Btw, anyway to focus a 1.4 lens accurately a? Focus recompose using center point the focus always run away 1. Only can use outer focus point le huh? == |

Based on my experience, the corner AF points tends to miss when I shoot far away subject. And shooting close to mfd, its best not to recompose ;-) (oh the side AF works pretty well when subject is close).

QUOTE(f5calvin @ Apr 2 2014, 01:56 AM) ![]() i think it's sharp n accurate for this picture(using centre focus point) Sigma 50mm 1.4 on D610. i usually use only middle focus point, since the other cross type focus point oso vy close to middle one, not much difference. besides, the outer focus points are less accurate , i dont feel safe using them. yeah, can use liveview too, or face detection so that u no need recompose or select where to focus. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « oh that's how to do it.. new info.. hmm.. if it's close, why not use liveview? thought it's slower n sometimes i find it blur. i think my handshake more on liveview.. |

QUOTE(PF T.J. @ Apr 3 2014, 03:48 PM) Hey, thanks for adding man haha Time to stalk your Taiwan trip pics You should try searching for "tanji" and look under Google images Ahh, nice profile pic haha XD Wow, didn't know Taiwan had such a huge impact in your quest for photography haha I'm sure you'll take way better photos now Japan's very beautiful during this time right? Nice yo hehe~ For the highlights, shadows and whites, I usually decrease them if the photo is under bright sunlight. If indoors, then increase them haha Sorry missed out just now It took me 10 days to finish editing my 10-days Taiwan trip photos too hehe, but its totally worth it la~ I can't remember the exact model haha, but its under this series: http://www.siruicanada.com/tripods/t1204.htm QUOTE(PF T.J. @ Apr 3 2014, 04:10 PM) First encounter with real Tulips Nice! QUOTE(PF T.J. @ Apr 4 2014, 01:11 PM) Not neccesarily an XE-2 la haha, but mots people love the image quality of Fujifilm cameras~ And not to mention the retro design XD Once you use say the X-E2, you will appreciate how good the D800 sensor is And yeap, that's what I've been telling a lot of enthusiasts currently using DX machines I'm sure many (including me) joined the world of FF because we were curious to see see how well a FF performs. And at the end of the day, I guess most will learn that its really the skills that matters. And its not like mirrorless cameras are bad haha, they offer great performance for the portability- a balanced machine that many are willing to sacrifice ergonomics/ruggedness for~ This is just my opinion la haha, though I think its logical Having said that, I'm still keeping my D800 for my macro shots, definitely will need the weather sealing and ruggedness when I enter the forests |

If not mistaken Fotokem you could request for warranty extension to 3 years... and that Nikon store KLCC is owned by Fotokem isn't it? So should be the same 3 years warranty, 1 year by Nikon 2 years by third party.

QUOTE(PF T.J. @ Apr 25 2014, 08:56 PM) I think this shot could use some improvements Below appeared on Flickr Explore and became my most viewed and favourited photo.. even more than my 3 years ago ones LOL!Just some of my noob comments, I don't really know too much about portraits: - there are some rubbish in the background, I think can be clone away lol - there is a small triangular thing on her forearm, can be cloned too - not sure whether you intend for the model to look as natural as possible; but usually I would smoother her face and removing freckles/pimples/wrinkles (and usually girls will appreciate it haha) - The angle could be better for that particular pose: it looks like the leg suddenly "pop out" from her head - I think the bokeh might not be that nice for this shot.. perhaps can choose a better background so that you can get super creamy bokeh? Just my 2 cents~ Macam seen before sifu haha No new photos? Even those from your XE-2? The Aqua Luna sailing along Avenue of Stars by CY Pixels, on Flickr |

QUOTE(f5calvin @ Apr 30 2014, 01:01 AM) if there's another lens i'd like to add, it's either the 85mm 1.8g or the 70-200 f2.8 tamron macro. Both different types of lens, do you need the 200mm reach? If yes then its the 70200. If not you just want the big aperture and 85mm range is ok then go for the prime.Which is a better choice? |

QUOTE(jchue73 @ May 2 2014, 03:52 PM) Try and do a search. A few years back, the choice was about equal in between the Tokina and Sigma. I believe picture quality and sharpness at wide open goes to Tokina but at f/8 apertures, everything becomes the same. Back and bank breaker, the 200mm f/2 I mean So for me, the 10mm and faster HSM motor was the deciding factor. Before you perform this test, did you disable AF engagement for shutter half-press? Set the "AF Activation" option to "AF-ON only". For D600 it's option f4 if not wrong and since no dedicated button on D600 (and D7000) for AF-On, use the AE-L/AF-L button as the AF-ON button. Also, for the test to be accurate, you need to make sure that your camera sensor is parallel to the newspaper or any intended object and also on the same plane. For that you need something like LensAlign to correctly place the target and make the test more meaningful as you can manually set and determine the focal plane of the target to be parallel to the camera sensor plane. 200mm can also have big aperture. At f/2.0 lah. Difficult question. But you can opt to buy the 17-55mm f/2.8 Nikon at 2nd hand prices and still sell them for a reasonable price should you decide to upgrade later on. Or you can get 3rd party lenses and sell later at lower prices should you decide to upgrade later. The Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8 is beautiful lens. It's a lot of money but I don't think it suites well on the DX crop. Yeah some say ok but to me, it's not wide enough. If you have wider lenses, then you can got for it but if you don't have wider lenses, then save the money and look elsewhere. It's not a limited edition lens. When you want to buy it later after upgrading to FX, it will always be available. |

QUOTE(jchue73 @ May 2 2014, 09:44 PM) Because got gold ring mah. *selfdenialmode* I would rather use the 85mm f/1.4G... To date, it's the only pro f/2.8 DX lens to come out if I'm not mistaken. Other pro lenses made for FX. People can still survive with one kidney. Pics taken with it is super beautiful. QUOTE(MichaelJohn @ May 3 2014, 03:44 PM) I think I might scrap the 17-55 and get the 24-70 since I can borrow my friends Tokina 11-16 anytime to cover the wide focal length. Well, I think the 17-55 is more versatile, those UWA can be too wide at times especially for 11-16 which even at 16mm is just 24mm equivalent. |

QUOTE(MichaelJohn @ May 4 2014, 08:06 PM) Must be a stupid reason for me to say this to you but I guess I felt that I want to change to FX in a few years and I thought that the 70-200 would be a good choice since I take event photos and I've been using my 18-200 VRII 3.5-5.6 all the time and just can't get those shots at >120mm correctly exposed, so thought that the 70-200 2.8 might help me with that. What sort of events do you shoot?INB4 what happened to the 24-70 2.8 ( or DX 17-55 2.8 :v) |

QUOTE(f5calvin @ May 5 2014, 01:08 AM) Well no choice then since you can't walk up nearer, I usually prefer shorter range for indoors, mainly also the flash would be easier to light up. Of course the easy way out is just bounce to the ceiling but if its a high ceiling you overwork the flash a lot. |
