is quite a bad shoot, you should see how other photographers shoot foods and products photography, learn more on composition and lightning

you can refer to goldfries's collection
http://www.goldfries.com/category/photogra...otoshoot-setup/
http://www.goldfries.com/category/photography/

anyway, keep trying and you will get better, it's not like i'm any better either, let's keep learning and improving together icon_rolleyes.gif

Ya. I know should always improve skill 1st. Still get very amateur shots, dont know how to improve @@''.. I dont have the creative mind to see how to snap photos ~~''.. FX too expensive XD.. hahaha

shoot more la, try out different kind of photography like portrait, cars, sports macro, landscape and so on. When you found the type of photography that suits you the best then you try to be good at it after that you move on to learn other type of photography

just dont think that you are already good at it so you stop learning, continuous learning is the key to success icon_rolleyes.gif

QUOTE(zul_psang @ Aug 15 2014, 11:22 AM)
Hi all sifu,
I'm still new in photography,
My gear:
Nikon D5300
AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-140mm
Nikon 50mm f/1.8 AF-D

Just want to ask
1.What is next lens should i upgrade ?
2.What lens should i use for recording movie?
3.Where to find lens hood for 18-140mm

Thanks
*
50mm is not preferable for some of us, usually is 35mm f1.8 because of its wider field of view although there is slightly less bokeh-ness at wide open compare to 50mm

1. shoot with your kit lens till you know what you need
2. kit lens, your 18-140 or 18-55 is good enough, easy to get hyperfocal which save you from blur video

QUOTE(ragnarokB2 @ Aug 15 2014, 12:06 PM)
Not a sifu  icon_rolleyes.gif
Probably a 50mm f/1.8 AF-S  hmm.gif  (give me that AF-D  cry.gif ) since D5300 don't have motor to AF that lens. Or you could move to wider lens like 35mm or 28mm as 50mm is too long for full body shot on DX camera (got hit with this at Animangaki last weekend  cry.gif  )
For movie, I think your 18-140mm is good enough
*
50mm on DX is 75mm (50 x 1.5) while 35mm on DX is 52.5mm (35 x 1.5), so for this kind of event i will say 35mm f1.8 is more suitable, cant get full body shot, only half-body unless shoot from high/low angle

but canon user might say 50mm is better than 35mm whistling.gif

QUOTE(Agito666 @ Aug 15 2014, 03:07 PM)
buy 24-70mm f/2.8 , good enough.

if you feel expensive, that's means you still good with your current lens and yea, no need change la haha. whistling.gif

(i'm just joking  unsure.gif )
*
good enough only? then what is the best? laugh.gif

Don't think I can get a 35mm 1.8 by Comic Fiesta, so will go back to kit lens. Can the kit lens produce good bokeh? So far all I get with 35mm or below are deep on its DoF. Or is there a place in KL where I can rent a 35mm?  cry.gif
*
each month save RM200 then during CF that time can get a 2nd hand 35mm already, my d5100 and 35mm also 2nd hand unit and i dont even have a kit lens which is a disadvantage at some situation cry.gif

kit lens cannot get much bokeh due to their narrow maximum aperture, if want bokeh then need to zoom in and subject have to be far away from background

Hey guys. I'm new here. I'm using D7000 with kit lens. I'm still in the beginner level. Currently using 18-105mm lens. I've done few research on the 35mm and 50mm lens. Is it advisable to buy new lens, since I'm still in the learning progress? I'm more into portrait and landscapes. Thanks!
*
if i were you i wont bother about 50mm 1.8, i would go for 35mm, i've tried both and 35mm is better for tight spaces and slightly better image quality
