QUOTE(QiAnG @ Apr 1 2014, 05:08 PM) Never realize I posted that many in the previous thread o.o Focus recomposing is usually not accurate when your DOF is small oh Btw, anyway to focus a 1.4 lens accurately a? Focus recompose using center point the focus always run away 1. Only can use outer focus point le huh? == Try manually selecting AF points? Can try it using Liveview too if you need to "focus" on areas way outside the focusing area haha |

QUOTE(ChaosSixth @ Apr 1 2014, 11:57 PM) Nice phone there mate! New one? I think your photo lacks a main focus, as in I'm not sure what you are trying to show with your photo if I didn't read your title Next time try to use a clean background (remove the other phone, headset and Nikon bag), or blur out the background altogether with large apertures (either shoot at max focal length @F5.6, OR any short focal length @F3.5), so that the focus will be on the phone and box itself |

QUOTE(ChaosSixth @ Apr 2 2014, 12:37 AM) I'm truly sorry with those background stuff. Randomly snap some pic and start with editing using LR. I will improvise the shot next time . thanks alot of the comments Don't worry man, my 1st few thousand photos were very bad as well haha You'll slowly learn about composition, lighting and post-processing along the way~ In fact, its good that you have already started using LR while you learn your photography, more efficient I don't have any phone shots T___T But I do have some camera shots. Just for your reference, I'm still pretty noob at this: ![]() ![]() Oh ya, this too hehe ![]() Keep it up~ This post has been edited by [PF] T.J.: Apr 2 2014, 12:46 AM |

QUOTE(ChaosSixth @ Apr 2 2014, 12:46 AM) Try to use Spoiler tags for long replies ya bro So to keep things less messy Ohh... that one was just fooling around with the colors.. Based on what I've learnt, sometimes it feels nicer to have the same colors in a photo of a product e.g. The Olympus is red so I choose red background lights; Sony NEX is pink so I picked pink-coloured, girly stuffs |

QUOTE(ChaosSixth @ Apr 2 2014, 12:51 AM) » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « alot to learn still composition and lighting is something new to me. Need to read and try out more Don't worry too much about advanced lighting first, that can come later~ As for composition, for a start, don't put your subject at the middle of a photo, put on the sides instead ~ QUOTE(teetaatee @ Apr 2 2014, 12:52 AM) no worries la.. i was like u as a beginner, my 1st 10k shutter just like snapshots... just keep shooting and shooting.. and try everything Same here, felt like wasted a lot of photos when I look back now fuiyooo.. cantek Thanks sifu, your photos are much more cantek |

QUOTE(ChaosSixth @ Apr 2 2014, 04:30 PM) » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « just wondering, post processing is it important? for my level now (newbie) , i think i should focus more onto getting better shots than editing. isnt it? The higher you go, the more processing work you'll learn and apply Its very hard to produce a photo that stands out without any post-processing This is also one of the reasons why Adobe is being sued for "distorting reality" |

QUOTE(ongdennis @ Apr 3 2014, 09:02 AM) bought used dont know what brand and most of the time in the box... Same here so do u really need it? good one is not cheap...that is what i feel I think you only need it only if you're very particular about the final result haha And its better to buy only when you are sure you will be sticking to that same lens |

QUOTE(jepertine90 @ Apr 3 2014, 01:20 PM) Saw your photos of your taiwan trip.. awesome shot.. Thanks for taking your time to look at the photos mate I was wondering how did you do the effect for like vintage feel.. not sure how to describe but is like yellow, greenish feel to all the photos.. mind share the process of it? For example the last photo with your SB700, the grainny feel to it.. Side question : what camera stand is that? looking for one with light weight for my upcoming trip~ If you want to see the full album, with descriptions and itinerary, do feel free to add me on FaceBook haha~ Was too lazy to retype captions for Flickr Ahh, I've been trying to learn this effect for quite some time too haha... asked around but no one seems to know or want to help T___T Its very simple actually haha, you simply need to (Lightroom 5) pull the left end of the tone curve up.. that will make the black color lighter (should be able to get similar effect by increasing the "Blacks" bar just below "Whites"), thus giving the effect , at the same time (depending on the amount of light in your photo), you decrease "Highlights", "Shadows" and "Whites". After this, do some minor tweaks until you get the effect you want I usually like to increase the Hues of Yellow and Green by a bit (~+5-+10) if there are greeneries (tree, bush etc.) in the shot. This of course, depends on your personal preference, I prefer greenish photos over yellow... At this time I only know how to really tweak Yellows and Greens, still practising with other colors Sorry if unclear haha, its a bit hard to generalize Different photos will require different "magnitude" of tweaking haha... takes time to learn and apply QUOTE(wkwong91 @ Apr 3 2014, 01:52 PM) Good eyes mate! Its a 1.7kg SIRUI, I've purposely chose this one because its light, small, sturdy, and at the same time doesn't cost a bomb like Carbon Fibre ones do haha I love this tripod~ Only weakness is that it cannot reach very tall height, probably around 140-150cm only, which is not bad la haha |

RAIN~ So now I'm preparing my skills and gear for Japan in May.. ah, the highlights, shadows and whites.. I try to do this with temp and tints and its look ugly.. Later try it on some expo shot I had.. same I also used to edit photo 1 by 1 with different settings to suit each condition of the photos... but time consuming.. Sirui which model? Wow, didn't know Taiwan had such a huge impact in your quest for photography haha I'm sure you'll take way better photos now Japan's very beautiful during this time right? Nice yo hehe~ For the highlights, shadows and whites, I usually decrease them if the photo is under bright sunlight. If indoors, then increase them haha Sorry missed out just now It took me 10 days to finish editing my 10-days Taiwan trip photos too hehe, but its totally worth it la~ I can't remember the exact model haha, but its under this series: http://www.siruicanada.com/tripods/t1204.htm |
