QUOTE(yewlin @ Apr 9 2007, 02:25 PM) ohhh really ah if you want i can sell you cheap cheap...maybe RM3.00 each okay? but not much left de since i feed my 'soon hock' wah! your soon hock must be very healthy!yah i stay at shah alam hehehe you want clean gold or copper gold. i still got fews gold at home before i dis-continue the gold. if you stay nearby you can visit my house to take a look yeah, very interested. I'd love a clean gold but I don't think anyone has one. Copper gold ok also if the betta is still young (ie. 3-4 months). I don't live near shah alam but wouldn't mind coming by to see your spawn. From what I've read so far, you got a nice line going. what lineage do you have so far? F4? Do you go to Betta Sunday? I was thinking of checking that out next month. |

then can you put different types of females together or they got to be from the same family?
eg. female turqoise with gold turqoise. and if you do have a community tank of 10, you'll need a large tank right? with lots of hiding places and plants. i'm wondering if a 1 gallon tank is large enough? |

QUOTE(inv @ Apr 23 2007, 01:31 PM) different types of females oso can. but if from same family, then the alpha position will usually be determined a long time ago. and yea, best to put in some plants. wah! 1 betta PER gallon tank???pls don't cramp 10 females into 1 gallon tank. u'll see a lot of difference in your betta behaviour once u move them into larger quarters. they're usually more lively. i'm currently storing my betta in 1 gallon tank PER betta. lots of room to swim and don't need to change water that frequently. how many bettas do you have la? i'm already having storage problems with my 6 small tanks. |

QUOTE(inv @ Apr 24 2007, 01:17 PM) i currently have 3 betta, 1 turquoise male sdpk, 1 blue female hmpk and 1 dunno what sex pk (it has the white dot like any other female, blows bubble like any other male, and not receptive at all when i tried to spawn it with the turquoise male. always kena pow from the male) i have 20 odd fry (3 weeks old) in a 10gallon tank. and spawning the turquoise and blue in another 5gallon tank. 3 betta is ok.planning to house the 2 females together in the 1gallon tank but have yet to find a divider for them. can't imagine you providing a gallon tank for each fry when they grow up though. hahaha! I currently have 1 male super delta, 1 male gold PK, 1 male red CT, 1 turqoise male BT, 1 male VT, and 4 fries (3 platinum white & 1 turqoise. I think they're about a month old). and I actually want more!!!! hahaha! ps. what's a sdpk? super delta? |

in show quality bettas, is black mask an undesirable trait? cos i noticed most of the show bettas have full mask. |

yew lin,
i got a question: (first of all, i'm not criticising the fish ar... just curious about judging standards) Redwash if the betta looks ok (no red wash) from normal angle but when light shines on it and from a certain angle you can see some kind of red wash, is it considered red wash? |

QUOTE(madstone @ May 11 2007, 09:36 AM) Bought one male betta of long tail, dunno what type BUT got quiet long tail u better not breed those.red in color, cost me RM2 only now i got 3 male & 1 female (small female) 2 long tail male & 1 short tail dunno what type or species BUT will snap pix for it soon breeding a good pair or a cheap pair takes the same amount of effort. since it's just as tedious, might as well invest in a good pair. i know how you feel, newbie so want to experiment cheap one. but later you will be disappointed with the result. cos u dunno the betta parentage. better get from a good breeder like yew lin. at least he can tell you the bettas bloodline, grandfather, grandmother story, the geno it carries, etc. it will be more rewarding. and ask him for his top pair. a bit more mahal but definitely worth it when you spawn. (imagine hundreds of fries, so your investment/ROI will be worth more than the [RM100/whatever price you pay] you will spend on the betta) |

QUOTE(madstone @ May 14 2007, 02:55 PM) it really depends on you.as much space as you are willing to spare. americans like to keep theirs in a gallon tank (3.8 litres). INV said that gallon tanks give more space for the betta and you get to see more of their character cos they have more space to explore. If you don't have much space, get half a gallon. That also, some people say is a mansion for the betta. I use a variety of guppy tanks. the cheapest and smallest is around RM3.50. |

QUOTE(inv @ May 16 2007, 03:26 PM) i only know of 1 way. inv, you can tell the sex when so young ah?look for the egg spot. if the betta is a female, it would have a portruding white spot between her ventral and anal fin. The spot is none other than the ovipositor tube, which during spawning, the eggs will come out from. if it doesn't have an egg spot, then it's definately a male. if u don't know your fins, go -> http://www.bettatalk.com/betta_anatomy.htm i tried but very susah to spot in the young ones. do i need to change my specs? |
