hi, if u r buying the packet size one then it is good to use one packet for one 4' tank, then it wil drop the pH to around 5-5.something, which is best for bettas, but peat definetly will make the water brownish, so if u refer to my pic b4, i put some active carbon in the top filter then the water wil b crystal clear aldi ketapang leaf wil drop the pH to around 6 only. if 2' tank then use half of the peat from the packet. one easy way to save cost is u steal the stocking from ur wife then put the peat inside, after that just sew it, and then hide the pack under the wood or sand....up to u la....hahaha just some idea only, correct me if i am wrong....

bro, no need to put salt la, only when betta sick then put a "bit" only......tats the ketapang leaf, b4 u put in, make sure u boil it 1st la, like "cooking" it, after tat only put in, it will turn d water bcome brownish after 3-4 days, it can lower the pH to around 5.5-6, depends on how many pieces u put in, but like me, i hv my own ketapang tree, so i didnt boil it, hahaha, if u can, next time u c the ketapang tree, then collect the seed la, its brown in color...then u can plant in ur garden lo, but remember the tree will grow very very big... my dad purposely plant this bcos wan to keep bettas..hahaha

hahaha, my dad is animal freek la, i bcome like this also bcos his fault la..hahaaa ya all the 3 pictures are ketapang....yes u can boil it like driftwood lo....only a few minutes (around 3 in boiling water enug la, just my opinion), one piece in small tank definitely enug one, once the water bcome brownish u can remove it lo, bcos if u dont take out then the water will bcome black water liao, ketapang can make the pH down n if ur betta is sick u just put in ketapang + "bit" salt then it will heal...trust me...i always do this...

i normally feed my betta fries with artemia, i dont know y they dont like daphnia... and the liquidfry no2 just cant work well...the 1st time i tried out, all the fries dead i think it was my mistake la,
btw, if u wan to breed them, i suggest u read/google/study/ask/ and do some homework, then will increase the success rate to breed....
but diff betta need diff pH to breed,
if u just breed betta splendens, i think pH around 6-6.5 will do the job, and the temperature around 28oC, as long as u can c the brown vertical stripe along the female and the stomach is big, even when u not feeding it, then means it is ready to spawn, b4 tat, just put them in separate jar, let them c each other for around 30 minutes per day, after 2-3 days then u can prepare the breeding tank with a lot of plants inside so tat the famale can hide....the rest just follow sifuuu novo said la....

hahahaha, i think u over"cook" the leaf...
sayasebuk: so nice the palace and the red vt, my favorite color betta tends to jump when the pH is changed or when move to new environment or been scared....the best is to put a cover la, or keep the water level low, btw u hv a very nice color HMPK, n they like a bit "blackwater", i think urs just too clean..just my opinion

foxngn: ya i forgot to mention u need to get te very old leaf, like another sifu said, "crunhcy leaf", normally i didnt cook it, just wash it with aged water a few times, then str8 away throw in the tank aldi, around 1 or 2 day the water will change brownish aldi.

wat u feed them??? live food??? normally tubifex will carry parasite tat wil harm ur bettas, i learnt this thru a very hard lesson, my channoides dead bcos of parasite, may it RIP....

yup, i heard banana leaf also do the same thing, just tat i nvr give it a try bcos i read from some where tat banana r not so good compare to ketapang n it contains bacterias too..dont know where i read, i forgot aldi even i hv some banana trees in my backyard but not dare to try....mayb u can try out n let us know?
