the 2nd betta water maybe got a lil problem...coz the betta's fins are not fully open(could be caused by poor water condition)
*
ooo... i think maybe because i campur the old water from the pack when my fren gave it to me.. will do a full water changes.

is it ok if i change the water after 1 or 2 days? cause i yesterday only bring it back.. i scare it still in shock, if i would do a water change now

dude...u must never use the water packed along with the fish....must always use fresh water/conditioned water.
*
aiskk.... i thought mix a bit of the water from packed along will let it to be more adjustable with mine water.
Nvm, i think i'll do another round of water changes. Anyway quite happy to see that it flare just now.

If fin din open full mean water gt problem? O.O

Just now read an article. it mention that if a betta didnt open fin, which means either water is dirty/problem, or the betta is afraid or scare.

The looks of the fishes are ok....I think nothing wrong with them. If it's really sick, it'll CLAMP fins. What you see in those pics are not CLAMP fins symptoms. THey are just not FLARING.

I dont recommend a 100% change of water because it'll mean a 100% in all water parameters(temperature, pH, water hardness etc). Unless you can actually have water supply of about the same parameters as in your fish jar.

I keep my bettas in Nescafe Gold jars. When i do water change, only remove 70%, then replace with new water. Well, of cos there are other guys outthere who would revoke this. It's all up to you. Each of us hass different method smile.gif gd luck

Long time no chat nor see u in here liao, presario.
Anyway, thanks for the clarification.

hmm i do 100% change, i take the fresh water from my small 'pond'. so i think that should be quite a natural environment for them.
*
hmm....usually i do a 80% water change to my other betta.
I only do once a 100% if i too many days didnt do water changes.

erm we discussed this a few pages back, put the female in a smaller container inside the male's container so that the male can see the female but cannot harm her. then when you see the female got vertical stripes, means she's ready then you can move her into the male's container.
*
yeap.. smile.gif

also, need to monitoring them, as if they not successfully mating, either one could be serious injure.

btw, would wanna ask, usually how to reduce the pressure of the water that pour in to those small tank or jar when do water changes, i mean when the betta is still in early age.

I'm doing 80% WC, except if the betta is the adult size, i will do a full 100% water change once 2 weeks

Once in 2 weeks? What aquarium you using? My bottles smell funny after 3 days at best.
*
oops...sorry, i mean if i would want to do a 100% wc. tongue.gif

Mostly i will change my adult betta once a week, which are in the plastic tank.

Then for those which in jar i will do a 80% wc once in 3 days.

jhoonaun, i think is kinda expensive if you pay RM10 for the betta.
Cause for that quality, you could easily get for a few bucks only.

laugh.gif  ok..  i'll try to smack some for them...  see whether they eat or not..
*
Or, you can do a one stone 2 bird method..

you go buy a Drosera plant... then since Drosera plant pot need to sink in another pot of water, so the water will be use to breed mosquito larva.. then if the larva become mosquito, it will be seduce by the sweety on the plant, & it will eaten by the drosera plant.. so what u do is to check the water frequently see got any mosquito larva or not, then u just pick them up & feed the betta.

i've never seen that plant before, know where to buy it? i think i really need them at my house cause got lots of mosquitoes.

QUOTE(rachelsly @ Jul 29 2008, 12:29 PM)
where to get this plant..?  never seen it b4...  and u mean the plant will eat the larva..?  shocking.gif
*
QUOTE(kenji_britney @ Jul 29 2008, 12:53 PM)
no the plant will eat mosquito. if the larvae turn into mosquito adi then the mosquito will be attracted to the plant and stick to it.
*
But i can't confirm with u all mosquito will attract by it la..but so far i got saw mosquito sticking on it.
If u saw my picture, the leave there got some black tips/spot, those are bugs & insect.
The water usually i change it once 2 weeks, then u can harvest the larva out for the betta to eat.
But the larva is really small & a bit transparent also. So u need good eye sight to check for it. tongue.gif

Those plant are categories as CARNIVOROUS PLANTS. falls under Drosera species, which are comes in pygmy size.
I heard my fren said u can get it cheap at sungai buloh there.Sometimes at those carrefour gardening section got sell.

ok..  thanks a lot..  will try to find the plant..   smile.gif

btw, its my first time to hear abt a carnivorous plant..   shocking.gif
*
hehe.... no problem.

But i oredi feel tired & lazy liao to pick up the larva, since it so small.
2nite or 2moro going to do 1 more round of check-up on the larva first.
Actually the pile of water still got many dead insect one...so, maybe if lucky the insect not die yet, i think can use it to feed grown up betta also.

i get it from forumer one, at petpitcher. but my fren said sg.buloh got much cheaper, exact location not sure. need to ask him again.
but u better be interest in the plant also lor.. later u cant find any larva, dun blame me. tongue.gif

ermm.. i use those penyepit to pick up the larva..no need to scoop.. scoop is too hard, as it is quite small for ur eye to spot.
