QUOTE(freshyyf @ Nov 3 2006, 09:41 AM) COOL, sifu Yewlin, I am interested to buy your HM. Are the fish as nice as Jit's avatar? Show us the picturelar... Buy 2 got discount? if u r so interested in their betta lines, y must u wait for the aquafair? just go and buy from them now...How should I pay you? Can I pay you first, then collect during Aquafair? Seriously, why don't you guys do that: Paste the betta fish you want to sell, then we can choose and do not mind to pay first (bank transfer perhaps). Then, we can come to Aquafair to collect. I am afraid all those nice fish gone when we come to Aquafair late I check the website, the Aquafair open to public only at 18 and 19 Nov. 16 and 17 Nov are for professional and traders. |

QUOTE(chypher @ Sep 25 2007, 12:35 AM) guyss... my betta's tummy is bloated.. is it some sickness?? i feed him the normal betta food.. could be dropsy...or could be that your betta is fat is it because of the food? Added on September 25, 2007, 9:12 am » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « I do not agree that the price of fighting fish is not stable...it is relatively stable because most home breeders do not simply dump(sell all) their culls to LFSs...There is also a reason y most LFSs do not manage to create good quality lines because it is not very profittable and it is very time consuming and tedious. However, I do notice a price drop for HMs within the past few years...its mainly because supply is higher than demand. 7 years back when i was an active betta hobbyist...1 pair of turqoise HMs can go for RM250... Most Malaysians tend to lack education about fish in general....like arowana and the dreaded flowerhorn....most ppl just pay high prices for it regardless of the quality of the fish as these fish are supposed to be good 'feng shui' fish. QUOTE(zoejehuty @ Sep 25 2007, 09:04 PM) i also not sure whether is male or female, since all is young, jus small only... no need anything...just water is good enough....if your betta died from a non-fighting situation...then their death is caused by the condition of the water or the bettas you bought were already sick and it was a matter of time before they died....very hard to saythen jus put all together lo... oh ya, if keep betta, need to pump air or need water filter or not ar ? or jus put in the tank with water then can liao... |

QUOTE(ivanlim @ Sep 26 2007, 06:19 PM) yewlin, if you're a newbie then I'm a sperm lah. lol. yes female bettas do fight...but they only start fighting when they only reach a certain age...why don't you just tell the fella that female bettas also fight, especially in small containers? don't need to give face one, brader. you are one of the sifus. plus...most LFSs dump all the female bettas into 1 tank...so i doubt fighting is the cause of death of those bettas |

another remedy for finrot = cut the infected part of the tail
melafix is fine(one of the most effective medicine for finrot)... feeding bloodworms is fine...just have to make sure that the water condition is of good condition...meaning all uneaten food is siphoned out daily and water is changed every 2 days if possible. also make sure you use a good/sufficient anti-chlorine...don't overdose/underdose |

QUOTE(unfazedgamer @ Oct 19 2007, 11:51 PM) I am using a 1ft tank with a hang-on-back filter set on the lowest possible current. I think 3 days is a good time? Or should I do it more frequently? i seriously do not think that the hang-on-back filter is necessary as bettas do not like water currents...if you insist on using the filter then 3 days should be fine...just gotta make sure that the betta faeces and uneaten food is cleared up |

QUOTE(wolfseed @ Nov 2 2007, 10:28 AM) I'm looking for HM or HMPK, budget i'm not very sure becuz last few fish i have is ranged from RM1.50 and RM3, but that was like 15 yrs ago with the rm1.50 and rm 3 budget u will never get a HM or HMPK...unless u r frens with the breeder...can get FOC I'm moving into new condo and i tot i should put some fish to make it looks alive. Will plan to have more than 1 tank. Jalan Pasar, i rarely see them have a nice HM or HMPK .. many come with spoiled fins i lost touch on the pricing of bettas but i reckon that a male will roughly go for rm50++? |

QUOTE(wolfseed @ Nov 3 2007, 01:31 AM) the thing is when it comes to the 'practice' of betta breeders is that alot of betta breeders rather kill their culls than give their culls away as their culls still contain the genes of a quality betta. anyway, this was wut i encountered when i was a 'practising' betta breeder |

QUOTE(Jitticus @ Nov 5 2007, 04:56 PM) Actually, it's not only that. Passing culls out to others actually does two things: it perpetuates the undesirable genes in the gene pool and it also perpetuates the notion that these pedigree bettas are cheap and common. Both of which they are not. Hope this clears things up for the others who haven't become betta hobbyist. so Mr. VP....heard alot of stories from the oldtimers of the club or society(tq simon)... |

QUOTE(NewbieBetta @ Jan 4 2008, 05:44 PM) u canot change water in 2weeks time till ur fries is stable.. you are forgetting vinegar eels + microworm u can only suck those shit out like ynneb25 said & add some water by suck them in slowly..not to create too much flow in the water so it slowly.. egg york can be good food for 1st few days but it will cloud your water very fast..best food will be daphnia & 1 more but forgotten already..i remember someone did bulk it here but its very long time ago maybe in V1 thread..bbs is your next choice.. daphnia is the best/easiest....do not know how true it is...nowadays breeders r feeding them frozen...half a decade ago when i was a breeder i used to buy fresh/live daphnia everyday from sungei way(now i heard that the shop also shifted already =.=') sigh....
