OH! ok hahah cause you mentioned 2 layers "on" the screen therefore reading it literally, the screen is not being included as one of the layers.

strange though, despite the fact that the iPhone also uses Gorilla Glass but it seems that the one on the iPhone is more fragile. I've seen my friend who dropped his iPhone 5 on tarmac (waist level), the entire screen got shattered. I also so unfortunately dropped my Lumia 800 on the same surface and same level but only found some very minor scratches on the screen and only the edge of the right screen got chipped a little =(

sometimes, it leads me to believe that the iPhone doesn't house a Gorilla Glass =(
*
when a phone drop on tarmac.. 80% chances the screen will break since tarmac MOHS hardness is higher than a glass which is at 6H. Try dropping at the same spot as your friend and see if it breaks... as u know, despite being the same tarmac design, the composition might be different.. that y sometimes, it breaks while sometimes it survived..

rather than depending on your luck, its better to invest in some protection.. e.g. casing, sp...

What do you guys think if buying oem product that will bring risk to your iphone?

Let say waterproof case.

Buy oem one coz ori is expensive.

For me, dont want buy original product because expensive. But why do you bought original iphone, why dont you buy iphone clone since its cheaper. Do you get me?
*
Nampak marah ni.. Siapa kasi pissed u off?

QUOTE(shaniandras2787 @ May 7 2014, 12:31 PM)
Many share your sentiment and I think we all get you. Why not go that extra mile to buy a proper case for the iPhone since you have already splurge a fortune for the iPhone itself

BUT

the thing is this, many here also is on the view that since they have already splurged a fortune for the iPhone then they should cut back on the protectors etc.

To many, screen protectors and casings are secondary protection, the first layer of protection should be yourself being extremely careful but no matter how careful one can be, accidents always happens.

My view is that if you intend to purchase a normal casing just to prevent your iPhone from customary scratches and bumps then OEM casings will do just as good BUT if you are looking for specialty cases such as waterproof then it's definitely not worth risking buying OEM.

If you purchase the casing from the original manufacturer then in the event of any defects in the casing which causes your iPhone to suffer damages then there is a probability that you may raise a claim against them however if you purchased it from an OEM then, too bad.

The casing I am using now for my iPhone 5s is a duplicate of the SGP ulltra thin soft clear casing and it only costs me RM8.00 whereas the original one will costs me at least RM90.00. i cannot find the justification on spending almost RM100.00 for a casing which will only provides protection for scratches.
*
Agreed... Accidents happens when you least expected.. That's y it's call accident... To me, I have been using my phone naked for few months already. Only use a ec pouch to prevent scratches in my pocket. But I still keep 2 cases, my nuguard KX for ultimate protection during dry outing, and my x1 waterproof waist/arm band for my running and water activities. That's all..

Guys, is Nillkin Amazing H+ Tempered Glass Protector nice ?
*
Nillkin? Oleophobic coating wear off fast... I'm vey particular in the coating cos I want to make sure my phone as screen as possible.. So nillkin or others non oleophobic sp is totally out. To me, the cleanliness of the phone is most important. Same like wearing a clean clothes.. If someone comes for interview n I see his/her phone is not well taken care of, I will ask him/her to go back laio...

Thanks to the consumer's rights in Malaysia. If this happens in the US, I'm sure they're dead by now.
*
yes.. if us or europe, those sellers will be dead.. according to our consumer tribunal or anti piracy, they will only take actions if someone complains.. sad..

QUOTE(REST3 @ May 7 2014, 06:17 PM)
Some of my friends using fake SGP cases and otterbox.... they quite happy actually.  Some of the glass screen prfotector also can buy for about rm30 to 60.

They save money for other things but they also need to take extra care not to drop the phone too much as fake ones may damage easier.

Its also feeding the piracy market since the intellectual property or copyright to the design a bit hard to enforce in china market.
*
china and india no copyright or trademark law. not even patency. Malaysia got.. but never enforced... LoL... thats y china is like photocopy machine.. while malaysia is more like a fishing pond.. easily catch "水魚“ . extra care not to drop the phone = is like saying those who dropped their phone is careless... many take extra care too, but accident happens... for glass sp, if you are looking for protection only, then buying cheap one still ok.. but if you want the oleophobic coating and better experience, then the china one still cannot make it.. tried few brands but none can convince us to switch over on selling it.. now we dont even bother to try those china brand anymore since all are same. unless they can prove that theirs is different, then probably still can consider to try.

QUOTE(lisahasan @ May 7 2014, 06:28 PM)
If they know its oem ok la

The issue is they being cheated by the seller itself

Saying its ori but the truth is oem. Oh i really hate these kind of people
*
what to do sis.. buyer dont wanna ask and seller dont bother to explain.. plus, some "seller" abuse the word "OEM", or probably they too stupid to understand the term. Cant blame them for their stupidity right? but if they said they fully understand the term, then can report to consumer tribunal already, report those sellers on commercial fraud. hahaha..

For those who wanted to report on Sellers selling fake items but claimed to be ori, can do an online report here

http://e-aduan.kpdnkk.gov.my/eaduan/aduanbaru.php?lang=1

this should give those sellers a lesson - Learn to be an honest seller, instead of misleading customers for personal gains.

Yeah  sweat.gif almost everything you buy from Amazon eligible to return within 2 weeks whether you like it or not.  thumbup.gif

the catch:

for some, must in original condition.. that means if theres a security seal and u open it, its not eligible anymore. and restocking fee too.. not forgetting the cost of postage back to them.. sometimes, i rather keep the item if its not too exp. or sell it to someone else..

Glass will always be glass. Let it be gorilla king kong dragontail chickenleg wadever. Even industrial tempered glass has pressure points.

The reason for the argument where Iphone is fragile should be based on the construction of the phone but not the glass. Iphone is designed to be elegant not rugged. Aluminum is rated as one of the softest metal around. Looks good but never sturdy. Aluminium band around the Iphone transfers almost all the impact to the screen. Whereas u c lumias with bigger bezels and Samsung with removable cheapo plastics, they might fall off into pieces that's because plastic absorbs the impact therefore protecting the screen.

QUOTE(ZeroHavoc @ May 8 2014, 03:39 PM)
Hye can anyone reccomend me reliable tempered glass here? I can see a lot of people selling for RM20.

Is there any difference between a pasar malam with local store glass?
*
reliable? u need to give specific needs..

1. if u want a harder one - buy the thickest available at 0.6mm
2. if u want best oleophobic and original corning gorilla glass material like your iphone - buy imos corning glass sp
3. if u want cheap - look for the cheapest one in the market. RM20 or less than that.. but dont expect anything from it.
4. dont want to invest too much but still want a tempered glass, there are quite a number of brands here.
5. any other requirement, please state.

there are few sellers u can refer to.

1. Connect2Usales - IMOS Corning Gorilla Glass SP - the thinnest 9H Corning gorilla glass sp in the market.
2. dino89 - Glastimate / SGP spigen
3. others - please identify yourself if you want to recommend ..

n the difference.

"Claimed" and "Proven".

Pasar malam is more to "Claimed" - they claim so much that even explosion proof - u really think it can handle explosion? scratch proof - try asking the seller if really got scratched, can claim 1 to 1? No sp in the world is scratch proof at this point of time, not even gorilla glass.

Branded - "Proven" Some brands invest their resources only in screen protector. its their bread and butter. no other source of income, they will do anything to make sure their quality is really as good as what they claimed. IMOS is one of those company.
some big company are famous for their accessories - but are they good in sp? not necessary, it just part of their merchandise. they wont die if their sp not selling well.

feel that what we said is bias? cos we are the authorised seller for IMOS? well, we are the user before we start selling it ... and i personally used for 6 months before i start to sell it. And it took us 1 year plus to claim it as the best sp in its class.
