Hello everyone, reporting in! Just came back from a week of seminar in Hong Kong... I know what you're thinking, Lego shopping!! rclxm9.gif But unfortunately was there for work so had very little time to shop. I did manage to check out some of the places mentioned by fellow AFOLs here, credit goes to bro cute_boboi and Bigfoot-X for the shopping guide and store contact. notworthy.gif

ok noted..coz when i go to aeon..they have those ready made wrapping books which can fit directly to the books..hahah
support! biggrin.gif
not yet started buying those power functions..still in plan and budget..1 M-motor cost about RM50..to get 5 meaning RM250 already..hahah
8043 dont need server motor coz its steering mechanism by the M-motor.. biggrin.gif

I'm back but still busy with work. No time to Lego... sweat.gif
Saw some new Technic range 4202x but nothing interesting yet.

Hi Bro,

42006 has ~720 parts
8043 has ~1125 parts
ultimate 8043 has ~1400 parts

I think not worth it to MOC 42006 into ultimate 8043. There are still many big parts such as additional 4x LA, battery box, and on top of this, you still need 605 parts (53%) by comparing to original 8043. Add another 275 parts for the ultimate version.

However, if you are going to proceed, my suggestion is: I recall for more power, instead of 5x M and 1x XL ... I re-modified into 3x M, 2x L and 1x XL

laugh.gif sorry, my bad doh.gif
actually just think of possible to get some power function parts together biggrin.gif
but the servo motor available at the volvo set  brows.gif
*
brows.gif 42030 Volvo L350F (front loader) is a new licensed product, 2H2014
Similiar like 8110 Unimog licensed from Mercedes-Benz.
42030 also uses the same unimog wheel & tyre, just different colour. Comes with L6 engine.
But the initial review, the servo motor is too fast and rough on turning, making it not that realistic.

42028 and 42029 also looks interesting.

8293 can be an option if want to get some lights, switch, M-motor.

I wanted to order it earlier but supplier said no stock, all pre-orders already gone and uncertain when is the next re-stock. Lego is selling like hot pisang goreng in Europe!

In terms of price from what I see it remained the same on the distributor's price list, ie. same as CMF12 and all previous CMF series. A possible explanation is the prices being goreng upwards due to shortage of stock...

I'm just going to wait and then open a bulk order for it or join someone's CS. wink.gif
Still resisiting! tongue.gif I should stay away from BV2 for a while to let the poison cool off... laugh.gif
Nvm, buy first and I'm sure sifu like Jurgen will have a fix for it and release an ultimate Volvo L350F soon. brows.gif

Ya, 42030 is a must buy for me smile.gif

I think now it lacks a dump-truck (8264). 8110 doesn't cut-it here, it's not a proper heavy-machinery, and it is not yellow. Scale wise is wrong also, look at the driver's chair and steering.
Lego has the yellow bull-dozer 8275 (can replace by 42028 which looks like smaller scale ?)
yellow excavator 8043 (so called replaced by 42006)
upcoming yellow front-loader 42030 (replace 8265 ?)

My 42009 still not ... yet ... open doh.gif

alamak, kena saman doh.gif

Check local sellers in Bricklink, if you just need a few here and there. Can COD or PosLaju for <RM8
I'm no seller though, but I do keep spares for gears, pins, connectors, some liftarms.

If you are going to buy a lot, 50/100+ pcs, check international sellers. The shipping cost is normally RM20-40 range, and each part/unit may save you 5-10 cents, so do your own calculation wink.gif

Or, buy a particular set and part out.

What gears are you looking for ? hmm.gif

i don't think i'm qualify to become a technic sifu biggrin.gif
still a lot to learn tongue.gif for example, there's a lot of gears i never seen it before, such as 32060 Gear Timing Wheel 8 Tooth...
(and i quite curious how to use this gear icon_question.gif )
i think best place to look parts will be bricklink, right? not only for technic, other lego parts as well biggrin.gif
*
No need to goto old/obsolete parts icon_rolleyes.gif If like that, can go all the way to 1960/70/80 for all types of Lego. Then there is this biggest gear ever

Yes, I think Bricklink is the best, but ... dry.gif

Im trying to light up my modular with LED strip..

notice that this LED strips runs on 12V power..

so if i use a 1 x 9v battery, it will light up but will drain the battery..

so 2nd options is to use 8 x AA 5V battery ..

anybody with electrical experience can comment? biggrin.gif

Lego LED or external ?
If Lego, normally is 500mA
If external, check the required input mA. Normally 2A or 5A ?
Go pasar road, buy the required adapter 240V->12V with the proper Amp.
Since for modular, it doesn't have foot/motor/wheel to run away, so wall adapter will provide constant juice.

brows.gif it seems there are other ways than bricklink brows.gif
is it pick-a-brick?

So far I never have chance to step foot into Legoland or any store that has PAB yet. But from pics, my guess is mostly for bricks and Lego City themes kind of parts.
Unlikely PAB offers Technic parts, don't even mention power-function stuffs. Maybe only some PAB outlets in the world that are big enough to offer it. Anyone knows ?

Last weekend and 1-May holiday, I build 42009 B-model. Total build time about 15-16 hours. Two vehicles. How big ? One vehicle is already 8275 bulldozer size. Or to put into perspective, when extend crane, it is longer and taller than modular buildings. Means the A-model should be even longer and taller.
After this, will dismantle and build A-model. Then only switch to Ultimate-42009 model. Value for money to try build all.
