QUOTE(v1n0d @ May 8 2014, 01:19 PM) Do note that players such as winter/yamatech/tfg etc. are products of what you brand "tryharding". We used to play together in inhouse leagues where any mistakes would result in being flamed to oblivion. As a result of these massive ragefests, players slowly developed an ability to cope under pressure. Sure, you develop an ego once you've made it through the system, but then again who wouldn't? Think of it in the same fashion as ragging in the army. Hehe, any advice for someone who wants to be a tryhard but with a MMR that's free falling. At the end of the day, it's all about what you expect from the game. Some people play it to relax and unwind, others consider it an avenue to express their competitive nature. If you take offence at being branded a noob, then you should understand why it's equally unfair to brand people tryhards. |

QUOTE(v1n0d @ May 8 2014, 07:34 PM) Depends on what queue you're tryharding for. I still feel like my game sense is lacking though. I don't mind being flamed, so let's try partying for normal games? If it's solo queue, then the fastest way to get better is to be positive. After reading a thread on Reddit about the benefits of positive behavior in ranked games, I put it to the test - I communicate using the chat wheel and pings, avoiding typing and using my mic as much as possible. I just random as soon as the hero selection screen comes up, and I play whatever I get. No swaps unless someone asks for the hero, no complaints about what they pick after me. If I random a carry and they pick 4 carries, I tell them that we just have to drag the game. If someone feeds, I ignore them and continue doing the best I can in my lane. The result - a nett gain of 300 MMR over 17 games. Once in a while the games become too frustrating and I resort to raging again. At times like those, I take a break and only continue playing solo the next day. The only IRL friends I still play with are my ex-tourney buddies. The rest of them have morphed into the play for fun category, and I actively avoid those types. Better for both parties IMHO. Not really a support, no. He's too item dependent to play 5th, and needs core items to play an effective 4th (unless there's another hero in the lineup that's suited to pick up mek/pipe). More suitable as part of a multicore lineup where he delivers the initiation and damage absorption while a secondary carry goes glass cannon to clean things up. I'm thinking that as part of a roaming combo, he can snowball fast and that should solve his gold problems. |

Sometimes we tunnel vision already, too focused on last hitting that we don't see the map often.

QUOTE(v1n0d @ May 19 2014, 09:21 AM) How long does it take before you receive your offering returns? I put in almost 4 pages of items and I've not gotten anything back yet. Yeah, I've got the same issue. I got the points for participating, but nothing received in return. Did your compendium get the points at least? |

QUOTE(v1n0d @ May 29 2014, 12:51 PM) Finally completed my compendium challenge. 300 points in the bag. really depends on luck, i got an armory expander with around 28 points as well as a rare silencer set for a few commons/uncommons.A little unhappy with the offering though, gave a whole ton of items and only got 48 points with no items in return. |
