Yup, upgrading from my Nikon 18-105mm f3.5-5.6 to something better!

QUOTE(epo @ Mar 24 2014, 09:26 PM) I'm using this for the past 4 years... Woah 4 years? Ain't that the previous version of it?Still going strong, no focus issue... Bought it from ebay due to couldn't find model for sony in msia long time ago... This Contemporary lens was released around 2-3 years ago. But still, how would you describe the overall image quality as compared with other lens? Example the Tamron 17-50mm VC/Non VC, or any other similar lenses? |

Mine like below
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sigma-17-70mm-f-2-...=item4d152e051e Tamron is a bit cooler , sigma is a bit warmer... Never use Tamron before although Tamron offer fix f/2.8 all the way This Sigma lens needs at least f/3.5 to get sharper images BTW, what is contemporary lens ? |

QUOTE(epo @ Mar 25 2014, 12:17 AM) Mine like below Sigma has redesigned the 17-70mm 3 times, and the Contemporary version is the forth, if I'm not mistaken.http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sigma-17-70mm-f-2-...=item4d152e051e Tamron is a bit cooler , sigma is a bit warmer... The Contemporary lens "Featuring the very latest technology, and combining optical performance with compactness, our high-performance Contemporary line covers a wide range of needs." -Sigma http://www.sigma-global.com/en/lenses/cas/concept/ |

I tried before, seems like the build is kinda solid... as contemporary is a premium lens re-design by Sigma, quality wise should be better than previous model
Not sure the lens I tried is a demo unit or new unit, I found the zooming part not as smooth as my Nikon lens, hope other forumer can give comment on this... |
