with the exception of modric, the players that are coming in, or rumored to be coming in are all in very good physical shape. kroos is very dominant because of his passing and take note of his physique.

james rodriguez also has something similar. bale, ronaldo and benzema as well. this is a big real madrid squad.

i reckon real madrid will be dominating in the coming season. comparing with barcelona's trio of suarez, neymar and messi, real madrid forwards and midfield dominate in terms of physique. it should be a good thing. barca's trio will easily be brushed off by real madrid defenders. but they are mobile and speedy. if real could get the tactics right in countering their movement, real should be safe.

Every media outlet is reporting a different figure but I have to say 88m has to be the least believable one laugh.gif

And we may balk at the ridiculous price we are paying but I've learnt to accept that Florentino and Jose Angel Sanchez play a whole different ballgame. One that has brought us to the top of the rich list. And James with his boyish good looks and the way he's burst on the WC stage, he seems like a marketing dream. So we should just let Florentino worry about the numbers and do what he does best while we can enjoy having one of the best young players playing for us smile.gif

Found this comment from ManagingMadrid. Really really good point imo, regarding James transfer and similar to what I think.

A. The price. Nothing more needs to be said.

B. Isco? Isco is better than him IMO. This transfer greatly risks the development of our future no.10.

C. Di Maria and Khedira. Although maybe unrelated transfer-wise we are going to be losing our steel and engines in midfield. This begs to question why spend 80M on a player whose role is currently unknown when we can spend less on someone like Pogba or Vidal in the midfield and Griezmann or Reus in the front 3.

D. Where will he play? As a back-up winger? 80M for a back-up winger? A false 9? We have one. Teach him to play like Di Maria in the middle? Why not just accept Di Maria’s wage demands or continue developing Isco in that role.

E. Is he even really that good? Obviously I was aware of James’ existence but isn’t it weird that not a single one on this forum ever mentioned James as a potential signing before the World Cup?

Michael Cox (Zonal Marking) on how Ancelotti might fit James. Good read.

Why on earth did madrid sign James, when we already have di Maria and isco playing the same position. really don't understand Perez transfer policy.

I think Di Maria will almost certainly be sold. Isco's future is in midfield where he will have to compete with Kroos and Modric for a place.

James is a forward who can play any of the front 3 positions. We did need another option up front after we sold Morata. Ronaldo, Bale, Benzema, Jese, James for 3 positions. There'll be plenty of playing time.
