pergh.. I slept last night with a big smile. The win was satisfying considering people always paired Chelsea with the word negative play haha
I think I start to understand why JM want all player to contribute in the defensive play, even to the likes of all our attacking players. Thing is, NATURALLY, nobody like to do defensive job because we are not design to run backwards. In addition, running backwards consume so much energy and need a lot of effort to make it perfect. However, the attacking instinct is an ever present in everybody's mind. That is why a GK can become a perfect addition while pursuing a result in the dying minute. EVERYBODY can be an attacker, but not all can become a defender. JM ideology? Let's make the defending DNA is embedded in his player, and let the creativity and flair do the attacking. I believe this is genius!
For the case of Arsenal, they played quite defensively against Spurs. And they might try to do so against us last night considering many of their players is injured. The problem is, they are depending on LUCK since defensive play need to be embedded in the players mind to be effective. That is why I always say, people that reject defensive football as delusional simply because they are going against the rule of nature. THERE IS ALWAYS AN OPPOSITE OF SOMETHING.
My view on football tactics is that, if you can't out play your opponent, then play defensively. Notable teams are Barca, Bayern, Real Madrid, Man City etc.. I think it is already a sin even to dream your team can out-attack the likes of these teams. Solution? Play defensively. Why? The burden will be shifted to the attacking team to try and break the defence. Best fail case? See how Arsenal perform (with their supposed beauty, but win-less) play against the attacking team.
I really hope the win least night is an eye opener for some people. Even you hate Chelsea, you cannot say the team played negatively. Defensive play is part of the game. The important part is that, tactics need to vary in countering different type of opponent.
KTBFFH!

for once, i would like to say i prefer eto'o to stay while torres and ba should leave to make space for others. eto'o started unconvincingly but he started to show good chemistry with other player. furthermore, he is surely a much more convincing sub in time of need. with regard to willian vs shurlle, i rate willian above shurlle, even above oscar. oscar got a lot of limelight this season because he dispose mata from the system. willian never got the license to create when oscar is there. however, this guy never shy away if given the opportunity as what we got from the match against man city. durability, speed and consistency.. who knows next season it will be oscar who will be disposed by willian hehe on another note, totally agree with this: "But it was still Matic who made them all tick. The Serb's is a powerful presence, closing down opponents and breaking up their rhythm while out of possession and progressive when he does claim the ball. The £21m outlay raised eyebrows, given he had been considered a makeweight two years previously, but he has added value to this set-up. He was everything Arsenal lacked in the middle: a physically imposing, calm and authoritative ball winner and distributor." http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/m...chelsea-arsenalmatic is on a league of his own. totally impressed with his contribution so far. palace totally deserve the 3 points.. their supporters totally deserve the win..
we spend the whole 1st 45minutes using our technique from dark ages.. punting the ball without real target.
we might even be 3rd after this defeat..
i think it is safe to say the title is gone. will be rooting for liverpool for the title after this.

matic definitely in his poorest performance since coming back to chelsea. he is just trying too hard. slow to release the ball and wasting too much of possession.
the initial line-up was good enough, even with the slow lampard behind torres. but the tactics is totally awful with the sudden high balls etc.. IMO, all the subs decision are good but we are wasting a lot of chances upfront, namely from oscar, hazard and torres.
no use hoping for other team to lose their game since we can't finish ours. lets win all the remaining matches to complete the season with dignity.

suarez 1st goal is somehing that we missed so much since drogba left. clinical finishing.. eto'o doesn't even come close but he is the best we got.
torres being torres for how many games already.. we cannot continue to perform well when there is surely 1 sleeping passenger in the starting eleven. yesterday was not all his fault tho..
really looking forward for next season for solution on our striking department.

i agree with the point torres loss his pace etc.. but the thing he really missed is the killer instinct to do the right thing, at the right time, and at the right place. eto'o also loss a lot of pace due to age, but the instinct is still there. ba initially show a lot of dangerous move but due to lack in game time, it became dull.
i am really not sure in the case of lukaku. he is brimming with potential and he is more than willing to shoulder the responsibility. but the manager sees otherwise. next season is another season where lukaku will be knocking on the door and it might be the last one for him before he go to place where he truly belong.

it will be super stupid gamble if mourinho continue with him in the 2nd half. PSG really looking to get him a red and based on the last tackle prior to half-time, i'd say that is the last the referee will tolerate from ramires. he is very poor and takes too many touches before releasing the ball..
luis and azpi looking good against ibra. gary neville brought up a good point regarding our striker position.. no movement in the box what so ever.. if morinho want to be bold, sub ramires for torres. that will surely caught PSG off guard. oscar move down to holding and the trident lead by willian in middle and hazard + schurrle at both side..

QUOTE(Ichighost @ Apr 3 2014, 03:38 AM) we still nee Rami, somehow we still need him to partner Luiz. just improve his passing and reduce his mistakes. i will not gamble on that. if we wish ramires to hold on to his challenges, then there is no need for him to be on the field because he will do next to nothing. either put mikel in and save the away goal advantage or put in torres for rami, move oscar down to holding and go for a win here. after this ramires will surely get red. surely..

i still think we can get something from this match.. just that we got a clear passenger in this match in the form of ramires. what did he do in 2nd half? half-hearted run, so less aggressive..

keeping ramires surely one of the most unexplainable thing mourinho did today.. seriously he did nothing much in the 2nd half. he is piss-poor since the start of 2014..
overall, i dont know what to say.. PSG doesn't do much. and mourinho show no desire to get something from the game. no x-factor in this game.. we deservedly lose the game.

QUOTE(gry @ Apr 3 2014, 04:39 AM) Torres uselessness has now reached an indescribable level. He never care. totally agree. this guy show no more desire and indescribable might be a correct word for him.. but main culprit i still think it is ramires. damn, really thought we can get at least a draw in this.. the last goal is i think cech is at fault. a goalkeeper should not be beaten at his near post. 2nd leg? if we are not playing the long ball, and some of the players can get rest from game against Stoke (especially hazard), then we might got a chance.

QUOTE(masterpoloking @ Apr 3 2014, 04:47 AM) no criticizing of JM here guys, he knows what's best for the team. like he said, he's taking this season to build his own army and to prepare for the next season. i believe we will be an even stronger force in europe next season as long as he is here. we gotta accept that this season we'll probably go trophyless. look at our performance, even if we win next week and progress to semi finals, do u actually think that we will go on to win it again ? true, we did it 2 years ago but that was with drogba's heroic... he aint here anymore, remember ? agree with the building process. but why not go all out when you already comes this far? agree that JM knowd what is best for the team. i think people was just throwing their idea. its not like we can take over chelsea from him i still think we can beat PSG at home. with some luck in the 2nd leg of the quarter final (considering the draw from Barca-Athletico, Bayern-Man Utd) and the following draw for the semi-final, we might go all the way to the final. even going to semi-final is already good because that will be our 7th (or 8th) entry into that stage in 11 season. then only we can attract big players for next season. i am not wishing drogba to come back, i am over with the case on mata. today we just didn't do enough and while on that, we take unnecessary gamble.

wish for oscar to start ahead of oscar at the center of the trident, just behind eto'o (if he play). oscar to come in as impact sub for schurrle later in the game. oscar show glimpse of his former self recently but still that is far from better against a good PSG side. we need everybody on top of their performance to turn things around.
