er... i really dunno why they can made companion app for Black Flag so well (and useful) but unity's so crappy.

For Black Flag, you don't need the app to complete the game. But for Unity, they force you to use it to unlock stuff. I won't be mas if the app doesn't crash everytime.

erm.. for mine it shows connected all the time, just the funciton wont. For example I made a mark on map via the App, sometime it will show up in game but sometime don't.

Man After read the official forum I better make a backup before updating the patch tonight.

How to backup?

Most of you might have turned on PREVOIUS VERSION of files and folders... if so...
You can restore your files by just right click on the local save folder:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\savegames\xxxLONG NUMBERxxx\720

Select Properties and then Previous Version...
You should be able to see multiple folders in there from various dates..
Before you restore you can actually take a look inside that folder.
Look for the last known good save game (by date and time) and either restore it or copy and paste it somewhere and overwrite the files in the original 720 folder
(if they are not correct.. maybe wanna do backup of them anyway.. i actually made 2 subfolders in the 720 folder called original and backup)
Make sure to DEACTIVATE cloud sync.. since this seems to be the problem.
In UPLAY click on the Gear on the top right corner, click on settings and then on the first page is the setting for Cloud Sync. Just uncheck it.
This also solves the problem with the Companion app since your saved game will be taken from the game you are just IN.

Anyhow, when restored and deactivated cloud sync start the game and you should be where you left off last time...

This worked for another poster

I've already find a fix and I am able to enjoy the game once again. Just go to the game's installation folder. Delete all .exe files. Then verify the game files on Uplay (instead of clicking play, use the drop-down list and choose verify files). The game will be restored under 1.3.0v patch and you'll be done.
