Hi, I am thinking of purchasing a new laptop.

BUDGET: between RM1500-RM2200
PURPOSE: web surfing, multitasking, gaming (example of games I play: Assassin's Creed series.. NO football games), possibly using programmes like Adobe Photoshop
Preferred Brands: Toshiba, Asus, Lenovo (however I am open to other suggestions)
Preferred Screen Size: 14"

I have actually seen a Toshiba Laptop being sold at RM1809 at www.lazada.com.my. Is it a good buy?
Specs below:

I realize that the RAM is only 2GB, but there is a second RAM slot, and from what I checked the Toshiba L40-AS125X can go all the way up to 16GB RAM, meaning it can either have a 2GB + 4GB combo, 4GB + 4GB combo, 8GB + 4GB combo, and 8GB + 8GB combo. Could anyone advise me on what type of RAM (brand, model etc) I should buy for this laptop and how much it would cost per stick of RAM (2GB, 4GB and 8 GB)?

Planning to buy a laptop to replace my stolen 15" macbook.

1. Budget: Below 3k
2. Processor: i5 or i7
3. Graphic card: Yes. I play a lot of first person games. Can play battlefield with low/medium setting smoothly would be good.
4. RAM: 4GB at least. Can upgrade no problem
5. HD: SSD preferred
6. OS: Win 8.1
7. Screen: Max 14"
8. Weight: Not more than 1.6kg

Currently I have shortlisted the Dell Vostro 5470 I7. However questions I have

a. Is the trackpad as good as a mac? I tried dell demo unit, seem not as responsive.
b. Scrolling browser with 2 fingers and moving windows with 3 fingers ok? As smooth as mac?
c. The build quality of Vostro 5470. Good?

Thanks so much everyone

Hey guys, I'm a university student and I don't really do gaming. My priorities are long battery life, lightweight and enough to run photoshop/solidworks.

1. Dell (for its international warranty and service) or Lenovo (for its competitive price) - please do provide suggestions for other brands if they fit either of the two criteria
2. Around RM2.5k
3. Microsoft Office, web browsing, photoshop/solidworks
4. 13-inch
5. Target weight: 1.8kg and/or below

Thanks!

Its because of ungrateful people like you that all the sifus have decided to stop recommending laugh.gif

Provide recommendations with reasons you all don't believe and in the end believe banglas in shops; don't provide reasons you say we cheat you all rclxub.gif

FYI, we don't get a single cent for compiling all the notebooks in the market and recommending here... and I've been doing this to close to 3 years now, getting real tired of people like you... maybe you can continue the work here since you are so good at it brows.gif

There's nothing much you can get for Rm1.5k unfortunately, especially if your bro is going to game hmm.gif

What you pay is what you get dude, you want an equivalent to a MBP 15, then of course you will need a similar price tag laugh.gif
Comparing a Rm2k notebook to a RM5k one is not fair oh..

a. the trackpad on the Vostro 5470 sucks. Since you came from a Mac, I don't think you can tahan it. Even I cannot tahan it coming from a Windows-notebook haha laugh.gif

b. not smooth, use a mouse lol

c. Build quality is horrible, that's the only reason why you can get such a low price for that weight nod.gif

I don't think there is anything within your requirements, have to be realistic man laugh.gif

13" notebooks are usually at a higher price point due to lower demand and production nod.gif
Closest would be this one:
13"
Lenovo Yoga 2-13, i5-4200U + Intel HD4400 + (1920x1080 IPS; touch) + 16GB SSHD + 500GB HDD@RM2999, 8GB, 2 years; colors: grey/orange
