Need a recommendation for a Windows photo-editing laptop to replace my 5-years old Dell XPS 16. Would be good if HDD and RAM slots are easily accessible.

1. Preferred Brand: any brand with good after-sales support.
2. Budget: RM5k
3. Usage: desktop replacement, photo editing, light gaming.
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: 15" to 17" non-reflective IPS screen

Thanks!

no good cooling system for light and sturdy laptops. to make the laptop light, it has to be slim which means traps more hot air and thinner heatsinks. anyway, suggestions :

Dell
Vostro 5470, i3-4010U + Intel HD4400@RM1799[1.62kg], 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), W8.1SL, 3-cell

Lenovo
S410p, i5-4200U + Intel HD4400M@RM1699[2.1kg], 4GB, 500GB, FreeDOS

prices in RRP and negotiable. use the remaining budget to upgrade RAM to 8GB and extend warranty to 3 years on-site for the sake of peace in mind. icon_rolleyes.gif

depends on what kind of engineering course you are taking. even if you have the need to use CAD for your engineering course, the i5 is enough to use for 5 years (without software upgrade) but i'd suggest i7 to prevent inconvenience.

for purchase, you can find it at lowyat or Digital Mall. smile.gif

Hi sifus biggrin.gif

1. Preferred Brand: any brand
2. Budget: 1.5-2k
3. Usage: Not too heavy, good battery life, good keyboard. Using for VMWare virtual machine, non-3d simulation, word processing/editing and research.
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: around 13-14"

Looked at Lenovo S410p yesterday, looks quite good. Any other suggestions?

Need another suggestion as well for a tablet to replace my aging netbook.

1. Preferred Brand: any brand
2. Budget: 1.5k
3. Usage: Good battery life. Occasionally to access work related stuffs.

Already have Android tablet. Looking a windows one to support x86 programs, flash and java.

Thanks! biggrin.gif
