hey guys, I just flashed recovery back to touchwiz 4.3 after flash CM 11 but didn't like it. After recovery, my default alarm tone (which is always over the horizon) has changed to beep once. Getting annoying to change it back everytime I set a alarm, how do I solve it?

what rom is recommended for gaming (psp/ps1 emulator) and simple nice design? I've tried CM 11 and its good but just a lil buggy, and revolutionary s5 v3 - nice simple s5 design but laggy and buggy as hell

Guys I was at Galaxy S5 Mini Rom, and I flashed official 4.3 stock rom to recover. The thing is, after that I re-rooted but I couldn't enter into recovery mode using recovery tools (TWRP) anymore. However everything is working fine, is it one of the symptoms of soft brick? I can still enter into download mode. P/S: I did not unroot before flashing stock rom, it was a mistake on my part.

Bro.... cold down..!!! sweat.gif

1. Was using Galaxy S5 Mini Rom.
2. You flash back to official stock but what method you use to flash and after flash back do you manage to
boot your phone?
3. How you flash your TWRP? after flash stock without rebooting you straight flash TWRP? or in Galaxy S5 you have TWRP and after flashing stock TWRP no more and you only have stock recovery... sweat.gif  doh.gif  rclxub.gif
4. You said "however everything is working fine.. meaning you able to bootup your phone? if yes use apps to go into recovery mode.. apps like rini reboot could assist.

Maybe my understanding or english is poor and really not able to understand but trying to help.. laugh.gif

Apologies.

First I rooted my S3 for the first time & flashed using TWRP to Galaxy S5 Mini Custom Rom. And then because the rom is too laggy for me, I decided to revert to the original stock rom. As I did not have a backup, I specifically went online to download the official stock rom 4.3 @ sammobile (made sure is the international Malaysian one). I flashed the official stock rom by download mode using ODIN IN MY PC. Everything went well, phone works perfectly for everything. But now the issue is, I am unable to go into TWRP recovery mode even though I have re-rooted my phone after I have flashed the official stock rom, I was wondering could the main reason be that I did not un-root my S3 first before flashing the official stock rom via ODIN. Could this be soft brick?

Thank you for your time.

ahh.. wait first...u can boot to ur system? everything works?
but cannot go to recovery mode and download mode?
u try to install TWRP manager. and access the recovery mode from there.

I can boot, everything works. I can't go into the TWRP recovery mode, even with TWRP installed. Download mode isn't a problem as well

I'm sorry, aware that my previous post was very confusing!

This is actually the more clear version :

ok.. now i know how to advise.

1. Once you ODIN to stock 100% sure you will lost your root and you don't need to unroot before flashing.
2. Soft brick = you can't even boot-up the phone
3. Try below:-

    i. confirm your root status using root checker. re-root if not root.
ii. use apps like rini reboot, CWM, etc to go into recovery/ download mode. if can't most likely your
recover corrupted. You need to flash back stock to have this mode. if you can go into either, reflash your
        TWRP
iii. last resort.. factory reset or go to the entire cycle again. flash stock, root and flash twrp.. icon_rolleyes.gif
*
Thanks bro notworthy.gif

I checked using root checker pro, got root. Tried various root programs and it's working fine. I think I said the wrong thing already, when I mean can't go into TWRP recovery it refers to your ii. I think. I always call it TWRP as I download this program called Recovery Tools from playstore, and when I use their reboot recovery it goes into Teamwin Project menu that one. So now I can't go into the recovery mode for that. Just to be clear... Not just for Recovery Tools, I tried other recovery softwares from playstore such as Quick Boot as well, does it go into recovery mode also. Only normal samsung download mode can. How like this cry.gif

Below is what I get when I go into boot recovery modes for Recovery Tools (TWRP) & Quick Boot

no need.
just flash using odin.
then enter back to stock recovery and restore everything back to factory image, and ur good to go.
if u wanna obtain the OTA updates, make sure ur binary counts are cleare using triangle away.

in other words,
1. triangle away first
2. enter download mode
3. install stock rom via odin
4. enter stock recovery
5. restore to factory default
6. done.

P/s : to use triangle away, ur phone needs to be rooted.  smile.gif
*
you mean flash using odin, and then once in stock just factory reset? won't the previous os still be there ah

For the triangle away, do I need to just download the APK file from xda or do I need the param.tar as well, whats the param file for ah? hmm.gif

Assuming you are in TWRP and already done full wipes my as well flash the custom rom using TWRP as well save all the hassle but please ensure you do full backup as well - 520 seconds average per backup won't hurt.

Sorry I missed the keyword "STOCK rom" doh.gif

thx dude anyway

Simkat 4.4.2 with Boeffla Kernel 2.2

I thought slimkat provides its own kernel? Mine is 3.0.80+ autobuild@slimautobuild #1
is it the correct one?

QUOTE(ToniV @ Apr 28 2014, 06:23 PM)
No, previous OS is wiped. besides, ur doing factory reset later...

triangle away get from xda and paste the apk in ur phone. after that install using file manager. easy...
*
You da man! notworthy.gif
I've browsed through XDA forum, they said downgrading from 4.3 to 4.1+ is risky as it might brick your phone. Why is that ah? I remember I flashed the cynogenmod 11 last time (4.4.2) and since its buggy I reverted back to stock rom via TWRP restore backup, no issue also...

Hi Slimkat users, got some questions..

1) For the close task manager apps, I can only one by one to close all apps, does the ROM have like stock rom's one button to close all? kind of annoying need one by one do
2) Does the google now launcher enable me to customize the drawer to 4x5? when I changed the DPI did alter a bit now its 4x6. But this is small issue for me actually tongue.gif
3) The touchsounds are not working at all - no touchsound when typing /clicking at all? I like touch sounds like the touchwiz stock bubble sound biggrin.gif
4) Samsung functions compatibility - such as smart stay/smart pause etc, can I make it work?

Thanks! rclxm9.gif

1. can...just pinch the column...and all the recent apps will be cleared.
2. not sure cause using nova launcher.
3. check in settings - sound - system. tick the boxes...
4. not using those features...maybe other forumers can help u...
*
1) it worked !! wow I would never know about that rclxms.gif
2) I like nova launcher as well, but the google search bar doesn't have the 'ok google' function, impresses my ifag friends brows.gif
3) yeah I ticked those boxes already, but still doesn't have any sounds, does yours have?

Do your touch sounds work? I notice when I viewed those tutorial videos on installation of Slim kat rom after finish they don't have those as well. So I'm wondering whether it's set that way or what

Already done that - this is the worse custom rom i have ever had  doh.gif
It's V3 anyway not sure about V2.
Gonna restore to SlimKat.

EDIT : i wanted to install simple apps from Play store - it takes almost forever to install  doh.gif
*
I was quite some time @ revolutionary s5, whatsapp not working, but there is a very troublesome solution stated in the pages of the xda thread. The rom was also not well planned lol IMO, gaps between the notification bar and home screen, lack of customization etc. Somemore the developer also takes hell long to even solve minor issues. Galaxy S5 mini rom IMO is way better in terms of stability, but just the laggyness turns me off

After a stupid 4.3 stock firmware update, the phone become terribly lag and now they telling us no more KitKat 4.4 update to the S3 anymore because of some lame reason. If this carry on I will gonna start to learn to "Root" my first Android mobile soon.
*
Just flash custom rom bro, already gave up on stock rom. If s4/s5 I wouldn't la, cause I wanna use the smart functions. But for our s3 the smart functions we can download apps for it already can d.
