Is Asus RT-AC55UHP good enough to cover 2 and a half story house? Most of the time, there are 6 to 8 devices connecting.

Please recommend a router for Unifi and quote the best price, send to KL.

Thank you

Hi,

For Budget & Recommended is this one:
ASUS 300Mbps Wireless-N Router (RT-N14UHP): RM320

Anything regarding WiFi signal will have No Actual Answer. That is because:

- You can have better coverage with lower security setting. A open wifi or non-security setting has better coverage than WEP, WPA, WPA2. WEP has better coverage than WPA... and so on.

- Nobody knows the best position on the location to place your router without onsite testing. To prevent dead spot, interference and so on.

- Nobody knows the surrounding users on your neighbourhood that uses which WiFi Channel without onsite testing. A same channel WiFi setting with your surrounding neighbourhood with affect the coverage & speed of your WiFi.

- Nobody knows is there any 2.4GHz interference equipment on the surrounding areas like wireless video/audio transmitter where it affect the operation of 2.4GHz WiFi signal. Also is there any fire proof or sound proof wall or door like the karaoke room in your house that weaken the signal. That is why a Dual-Band Router with 2.4GHz & 5GHz are better.

All problems has it's own solutions including using Homeplug, Access Point, Repeater, CPE etc. to solve the problems that is not only changing the router. wink.gif

How will you compare RT-N12HP with RT-N14UHP?

The scenario is I want them to become an access point instead of my primary router.
Is 300Mbps sufficient to deliver 30Mbps on WiFi?

Hi,

No one change modem for UniFi and doesn't necessary to change modem as it's HUAWEI "Reliable & Lifetime Warranty by TM"

People only change Router as TM provided router are useless for heavy user and very unreliable.

Router that are most recommended & use by customer:
ASUS 1900Mbps Wireless-AC Dual-Band 2.4GHz+5GHz Router (RT-AC68U)

Hi,

Thanks for the advice. Actually my place just roll out Unifi and expect to get service by this year. I'm still using Streamyx 8mbps and my modem router bought ages ago and dont have Gigabit Lan. Just bought a new personal cloud server so i need fast Lan to transfer file.

Can i connect this ASUS router to my old modem?

How much for RT-AC68U?
