i'm in cheras...so would be lookin' into any churches that are in KL or P.J.......
u know, attend the main services and perhaps....the youth meetings that caters to young working adults like me.......

it would be great if there are active band practises in place - where youths are given much freedom to set up their band among the others in the same church and to have the luxury of practising regularly in church......

okay, prolly i'm askin' too much...geez

thanks for helping in advanced!

oh yea...i'm lookin' into charismatic churches.....

hahah....naw, i don't mean it as an insult....what i meant was sometimes church do take breaks like when there's church camp....or the whole church have their service in another venue aligned with some significant event....but that's besides the point...

neways, wow....from what you described, it sounds competitive .....from what i know you're a gear freak....i guess there's even more crazier ones it seemed in your sanctuary...hehh

well i actually dont know that many ppl in that church yet as i am still quite new. u would probably know im from sarawak and only came here about a year to continue my studies. i used to play for my church in swak.

i think being competitive is besides the real main point. playing for God isnt like playing for a normal band. well im not gona preach but u know what im saying. plus the reason for all the hassle is to make sure u're dedicated enough to serve

Dudes don't mean to be insulting, but you guys shouldn't choose the church you go to based on the music they play? You should choose one based one beliefs, it's sounds like you guys are shoping for the church with the best music, and the attend service cos the music rocks, that ain't the way it's suppose to be. At least that's how I feel.

true dat. If that was the case, I'd probably go to the church of Satan or something, because I bet they play wicked cool Heavy Metal.....

When I DO go to Church (shock, horror..... BlackTriX actually attends church...... when he feels like it)..... I go there to thank our Lord and don't really pay too much attention to the music.....

Yup, that's the right way to find a church. Besides that, don't just attend XYZ church coz they got a big building, alots of people, people there are more happening, super mahal Instruments, worship team rocks and etc.

You should at least offer your skills to other church who really needs your talents, even if u're the only guitarist in the whole church ... so be it.

At least you serve when there's a need. smile.gif

there's just some misunderstanding here.....

right.....this is gettin' off-topic.....
so let's back to track....if you guys got any suggestions on churches that's worth checkin' out......the only criteria is...it's gotta be charismatic church....cos' i'm so used to attending one

healthy percentage of young working adults present, would be desirable since my church now...has only like less than 5% of young workin' adults? - the rest are startin' from age 35 +

Wah so many scrambling to respond to your statement. Haha but yes, they have a valid point. Choosing a church based on music quality is rather strange. Its like channel surfing but I guess most people these days have lost the meaning of true worship. That it isn't a spectator sport and the quality of worship is what YOU bring to the altar. anyway I digress...

What's your definition of healthy percentage of young working adults present? What age limit fits in your category of young adults? How far are you willing to travel from cheras? So we can narrow down your choices...

young working adults - age 20 - 35
(i don't mind mixing with those who're beyond this age group also, but that's beside our main point here)

i've got my own 4 wheels, so anywhere within KL, and PJ would be fine.
For PJ, the only areas i'm not considering are those areas located near to DU, or Kelana Jaya, Sunway...etc etc

So the topic now is looking for a church that "suits" you. I think you have been posting in the wrong section, you should ask here:

LYN Christians Lounge, You're all welcomed!

The thread has listings of churches around Malaysia including their music

Actually, SIB KL lacks musicians. We have the main services, the chinese service, the youth service and the children service. Total muscian is about

Main service (2 services - saturday and sunday)
4-5 pianist/keyboardist
2-3 bassist
2-3 accoustic guitarist
3-4 electric guitarist
3-4 drummers
1-2 percussionist

Chinese service (sunday)
3-4 pianist/keyboardist
1 bassist (I think as I stopped playing for them)
1-2 accoustic guitarist
1-2 electric guitarist (loan from main service)
2-3 drummers (sometimes loan from main service)
0 percussionist

Kids service (saturday and sunday)
3-4 pianist
2 bassist (me on sat and one for sun)
2-3 drummers

Youth service
Not sure.

To be able to play in church, you need to be a member of that church and attend a cell group. If you've been in SIB long enough, you should be in a cell group. If you want to join the music team, talk to (Uncle) Bernard. Practises are on Thursdays nights.
