Oh, and does anyone here know where I can get a Tekmat locally? They would look really nice as a keyboard+mouse mat.

Long answer:

Ducky Shine 3
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

- solid build
- using cherry switch which are reputable for durability and reliability
- LED effects
- standard layout, good for after-market keycaps replacement
- Keyboard made in Taiwan, switch made in Germany

Razer BlackWidow Ultimate 2014
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

- using kailh switch (replica cherry switch), low reliability and durability, tested by some keyboard users
- non-standard layout
- self-claimed 60million lifespan of switch  doh.gif
- Keyboard made in China, switch made in China  sweat.gif

Just saying, clone/replica never can match the original quality.
*
that is pretty convincing!! at first look i thought the razer pcb is covered by some kind of paper. but what actually are the benefits of dual layer pcb vs single layer pcb?

a quick video i did to demonstrate the sound difference for each type of o-rings

thin o-rings are about 1mm thick
user posted image
they didn't alter the feeling much. but it did dampen the "click" of the MX Blue by a bit and the "clack" when you bottom out now sounds muffled.

thick o-rings are about 2.5mm thick
user posted image
they are so thick that it raised the keycaps by a little bit and in turn reduce the key travel. however, the solid thud u feel when you bottom out is replaced by a more squishy thud. the "click" and "clack" are muffled a lot.

the thick ones are really huge, you can see their shadow from the LED

personally, i like the thick o-rings because they replaced the sharp feedback from the backplate with a solid muffled thud.

Nice sharing.
Do you like the sound of o-ring on keycaps on mx blue?

The pbt keycaps sound sharper, abs keycaps sound crispier.
*
I riked it best with thick o-rings. But there will be a very big difference in feedback compared to thin ones, so its not recommended for ppl who stress on the typing feel

Guys may I ask what's the name of the pin that allow LED switching without soldering?
*
iinm its called SIP socket and you would have to open up your switch to put them in

OMG. You can hear the quality of the keycaps from here..... It sounds like some cheapo thin ABS....
*
how the heck can you differentiate them?! the same goes for quovadis123 for pointing out the sharper sound on PBT and crispier sound on ABS in my vid?!! notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

From my side, because I use Ducky MX blue for daily keyboard.
Using abs for quick a long time before switching to keycool PBT.
So, can differentiate the sounds based on my past experience between the 2 materials.
The abs sounds indeed better in terms of "crispiness" than pbt in mx blue. PBT is sharper pitch in sound.
You can try to swap your pbt spacebar to abs and try. Maybe you will love the sound of the abs.
*
i can't really differentiate them since i have swapped out the ABS keycaps since day 1..... cool.gif

QUOTE(dadudeneverabides @ Apr 15 2014, 05:06 PM)
For me it's the bass sound. Topre is a solid sounding and tub thumping sound that's soothing to my ears and sounds very elegant.

When you use good ABS, the sound isn't that weird either with MX Blues, the clicky brightness and the sharper tones actually complement each other.

When you combine that weird thin sound with the soothing bass tones of the Topre, you get a very disharmonic tone that is neither soothing nor bright.

For me, it's easy to hear because I've spent years adjusting the tone on my musical instruments. Certain sounds just... meshes well to create a symphony.
*
i liked when the topre is pressed there is a faint bouncy feedback sound. when u say good ABS u mean those dye sub or double shot ones?
