QUOTE(faridz7 @ Mar 19 2014, 08:52 PM) thanks alot guys! really appreciate it Well then, you can other get a Z87 Core i7 or follow Cable's X79 Core i7 build. Better to have a parachute than none at all I guess. ok ive to look up on this Gainward GTX760 Phantom card still have to do my research on the difference between the cards, like for example, I had my eyes set on the msi gtx 660 twin frozr which is priced at rm900+, and yet this gtx760 is much cheaper.. @Sentinel92 oh the reason for the in built cards for the i7 rather than the xeon is because in case of gpu failure then at least ive the option to use the in built graphics card for my graphics work just for emergencies And get the Phantom 760. Its better for cheaper. Haha. |

Hi guys, need some advice here. I'm doing surfing & watching 1080p movies
This is the rig i have in mind: FM2+ A10-7850K Gigabyte G1.SNIPER A88X 1TB WD Black DDR3 1600Mhz 8GB RAM 475W psu Cooler master casing Some questions regarding this setup, cos i chose A10 APU & A88X mobo only: 1. I heard AMD notorious for heating issue? Should i get better cooling system instead of using stock fan? 2. shud i wait for ssd price to drop or upgrade now? 3. Can I dual screen output with current setup for gaming? 1 DVI 1 HDMI? 4. should i crossfire a R7 250 gpu or get better gpus? 5. Is 475W psu enough? 6. Did i miss anything? Thanks in advance This post has been edited by cysam90: Mar 20 2014, 12:12 AM |

If you want to be on a safe side you could go for a cheap cpu cooler. If you're bothered by the boot and how long it'll take to open a program an ssd is good. 3. I thought only 1 output for screening. 4. The 7850k is good enough for Dota 2 5. Why not a FSP Hexa 500w at RM 150? Good psu for this kind of build. 6. I think APU Utilizes a higher speed RAM for maximum potential. If you can get a 2133MHz RAM it will increase the performance of the APU. Why not this? Proc - A10-7850k - RM 679 Mobo - Asrock FM2A88M - RM 299 [ Support 2133MHz RAM ] HDD - 1TB WD Blue - RM 189 RAM - GSkill 8GB 2133MHz RAM - RM 369 PSU - FSP Hexa 500w - RM 159 Casing - CM K380 - RM 149 All of this prices are from Idealtech. But first budget plox. |

QUOTE(cysam90 @ Mar 20 2014, 12:11 AM) Hi guys, need some advice here. I'm doing surfing & watching 1080p movies Costs involved:This is the rig i have in mind: FM2+ A10-7850K Gigabyte G1.SNIPER A88X 1TB WD Black DDR3 1600Mhz 8GB RAM 475W psu Cooler master casing Some questions regarding this setup, cos i chose A10 APU & A88X mobo only: 1. Thanks in advance CPU- RM679 Board- RM399 HDD- RM259 RAMs-RM239 PSU- RM139 (CM Extreme II, but I'd recommend a better unit) Case- RM129 (CM K280) Total: RM1844 1. AMD CPUs do not run hot, but the problem is the fans can be noisy at times. You can solve this by getting an aftermarket cooler, such as the Hyper TX3 EVO, the reduce the noise of the fan. 2. SSD prices are stagnant for quite a while right now... It might be a good choice for an upgrade, if your budget permits. 3. Not sure on dual screen setups since I do not have experience with them. 4. Note that Hybrid Crossfire only works for GDDR3 variant of the GPU, shown here: http://www.eteknix.com/amd-kaveri-dual-gra...-graphic-cards/ Do bear in mind that Hybrid Crossfire can be buggy at times, and may introduce unwanted frame time latencies (i.e. stuttering in games). It might be a much better choice to work with discrete card, as outlined by TechSpot here: QUOTE If possible, we recommend spending a little extra money on a competent mid-range graphics card for guaranteed performance in all of your favorite games. While AMD's latest APUs make an interesting value proposition on their own, it seems like there are few situations where it would make sense to buy the company's FM2+ platform for Dual Graphics between an APU and a low-end discrete GPU. 5. 475W is enough, but I'd recommend a better unit. The FSP Hexa 500W would be perfect for an entry-level PSU. Personally, I'd recommend this build: i5 4440-RM579 ASRock H81M-DGS-RM179 WD Caviar Blue 1TB-RM189 4GB DDR3 1600 RAM-RM124 Palit GTX750Ti StormX Dual-RM560 (GBros@Garage Sales) FSP Hexa 500W-RM149 CM K280 Case-RM129 Total: RM1909 Even though it only has a single 4GB RAM, it has a much stronger single threaded performance, and a GPU that is almost as fast as the HD7850, with very low power consumption. If you want to cut the cost down, drop the CPU to an i3, and consider downgrading the GPU as well. |

The Intel i3-4xxx CPU is sufficient to support most of the games out there, as most games do not take advantage of more than 2 cores. I think games like Crysis 3 are considered the exception, and is able to take advantage of up to 4 cores. If budget is a constraint, the i3 should be OK for >95% of the time.
In general, for gaming, the GPU is still the main bottleneck today, so if you are interested in a smooth, and enjoyable game play experience, the Geforce GTX760 that is recommended quite often here is a very good choice, especially if the price is ~RM850, which is a good deal. GTX760 will give a better experience compared to GTX750Ti. |

There was a question on running dual GPUs in CrossFireX or SLI, versus a more powerful single GPU. I have done only one CrossFireX build before, and one SLI build, and my experience from those two builds has not been very good, with a lot of follow-up maintenance on drivers, game and driver settings, heat management, cable management, etc.
I personally think that single GPUs today are more than enough for most games, and the additional average frame rates is not worth the additional cost (GPU, M/B) and trouble. If you really want to run dual GPUs, I found the Nvidia SLI set-up better compared to CrossFireX. It was more stable, and had less issues. There are also reports that CrossFireX dual-GPU set-ups are also not as smooth, due to synchronization issues, but it seems that this has been resolved now in the latest drivers. |
