I find Daiso nail polish remover works well, no plastic degradation at all, either China or B* versions.
*
nail polish remover works well for a reason, you won't be wanting it to melt your fingernails right? lol

QUOTE(Elanges @ Aug 2 2014, 06:47 PM)
so what are the recomended thinner level? can someone guide me... i just spoild a nice kit.... dont want hapen to other kits as well
*
1:3 ratio is fine, what I'm guessing is you one shot spray too thick layer, the part ended 'soak' in thinner
you should spray a few thin coats, allowing time to dry between each coat

QUOTE(chyll2 @ Aug 2 2014, 08:21 PM)
correct me if I am wrong, but that is lacquer thinner?

if yes, B or not, it will be bad against ABS type plastic (hence new MG now highlight that it uses PS plastic frame)

also, do not use self-leveling thinner on ABS plastic, Self leveling means it is premixed with retarder. This will result slower drying time for the lacquer thinner and paint. This is good since it allows the paint to self-level before drying. This is bad for ABS plastic since the plastic is exposed to wet thinner longer.
*
it's not the leveling thinner that's bad for ABS, it's lacquer itself, but covering ABS parts with a layer of primer would protect it from the corrosion of lacquer

though lacquer is more corrosive, I didn't mean that leveling thinner won't harm ABS, actually any thinner would corrode ABS if exposed for a period of time
the trick is too spray multi thin coats, but that trick applies to all paint and all parts actually
hence his mistake was he sprayed too thick

I've painted on all parts with leveling thinner and never had problems
the only mistake I've done before was when want to wash off old paint, I also soaked ABS parts in water mixed with Dettol solution.
that totally ruined the ABS parts cry.gif

Just noticed that the thinner you used are arcylic based, are you sure you're using the same base for primer? Just wondering though....

Anyway, if you want to paint for the Nu, my advise is to clean the parts 1st, then primer them, especially the outer armor parts, because mine seems to be easily 'scratched' off tongue.gif

Good luck thumbup.gif

solvent-based acrylic is technically lacquer

I used lacquer based paints on all my kits, be it ori or bootlegs, without primer, and this never (touch wood) happened to mine b4, so it could be something else  hmm.gif
*
lacquer on ABS won't 'just' destroy ABS lol
it just create a chemical reaction which causes the ABS to become brittle and weak, not just break without any reasons
if you spray evenly thin coats, then the risk is lower, but the ABS do became weaker than it originally was
under stress it might crack

That's why I always use acrylic, safest paint for most plastics biggrin.gif

but acrylic not as scratch resistant as lacquer tongue.gif

QUOTE(Elanges @ Aug 6 2014, 01:44 PM)
Mine maybe because the thinner I use ." My Hobby" brand. Heard it's malaysia local brand. I mistakenly toughy it's "Mr. Hobby" and also maybe my paint is too thick.
*
about that brand, I tried searching in internet, it says it's from Bandai, but so far I've only seen it for sale by Malaysian sellers lol hmm.gif

QUOTE(simplyawdzome @ Aug 6 2014, 06:26 PM)
I completely agree. I started off my painted build with bootleg kits as i didnt wanna spend much on B* kits incase something goes wrong. Back then i didnt even use any primer but just normal spray cans(non tamiya ones). And i did not have any problems with cracking. I've always sprayed in mist coats. In my opinion, Daban and McModel plastic quality is alot better than GaoGao's. My GaoGao kits tend to break with ease and some got eaten up by paint =.=
*
most normal spray cans which didn't mention the paint type are acrylics
lacquer or enamel spray cans they will specify it on the packaging
