I feel the caveat here is that being a private & casual forum, you'd expect inconsistencies and conflict in interpretation even among the managing staff. Surely formal IRL concepts of justice and so forth with hearings and all won't apply here, although to be fair the majority of staff do try to be impartial most instances. Regardless, being private the goalposts are set by certain parties and interpretation is up to the administrators so best to tow the line being guests as we are.

This really isn't about "inconsistencies and interpretation". This is about being incapable of reading properly and not being able to own up to it when being called out on it. This isn't rocket science. The OP was banned because the administration failed to comprehend a simple sentence? How is that justifiable? You might as well start banning people who says "I love Apples", because clearly this is super ultra offensive to Pear-Haters like me. (Edit: pear-haters makes more sense in this context)

This forum isn't really free either. They are at the very least paid by ads. It's not like we're "guests" here enjoying ourselves without the ads firing. Finally, what's wrong with admitting to the inconsistency and moving on? Why evade the responsibility?
