Nvidia card lineups are denoted in their middle numbering, which increases as close to the card's generation

for example GTX600 series
690>680>670>660Ti>660>650Ti>650>640>630>620>610

Unless you are using adapter, HDMI cable cannot be plugged into DP port, the shape and pins are different, doing so will cause damage to the ports and the cables.
Higher end will have DP, for example HD 7970/R9 280, or GTX 760, these are the example.
