as the title suggests.

to improve x64 adoption rate, we should have a local x64 subforum and separate 32-bit and 64-bit section.

besides that, most of our current users already have a processor that is already 64 bit enabled, whether AMD64 or EM64T users... im sure that this will definitely generate interest to evaluate/migrate to the x64 platform.

i don't think it's that common to discuss 64 vs 32 to warrant a sub forum.

x64 is probably as uncommon as folding and linux & etc.. how come they have their own sub forums?

i should ask u that same question.

-how many *average computer users heard of these stuff?
-how advanced are the *average LYN forumers?
-how do you create an environment to share knowlegde with one another?

dude, chill... whats with the caps on?

and btw... its not 64-bit vs 32-bit... each of them are different in their own ways. each has their own pros and cons. and definitely dont mix

*relative comparison

It actually sounds quite good to me, since last time when I first switch to x64, I had to search other forums which has dicussions regarding about x64.

Though right now it might not have lots of traffic since minority of people only use x64.. But, x64 users are growing larger and larger, don't you agree?

Anyway, I checked out other x64 forums, there seems to be quite some dicussions on driver compatibiity, installations error bout x64. Thus the x64 isn't that uncommon

For starters, let's add a "64-bit" tag to the Hardware and Software forums.

it's not so much of the 'average'. if you go by 'average' then LYN won't even be a tech community. biggrin.gif

it's more about # of total users interested in a particular topic - hence a sub-forum.

NP. just a highlight on the word.

i'm not in disagreement with this. just that currently (if you look at the threads on LYN) there aren't much 64bit topics, perhaps a subforum shall be in place when there's more of such topics. smile.gif

for now - tags looks better. biggrin.gif

I don't see it needing it's own subtopic, but then i guess there are even less useful subforums....

It seems more like a logical progression to me than anything, once Vista comes, most if not everything will be x64 and it's about as much a change as going from windows 98 to windows XP software wise.

Hardware wise, well, i don't see anyone discussing it anymore... most people don't know and probably don't really care.

I think it's cool. 64-bit development is cool. I am an avid user of 64-bit applications and operating systems. But what kind of x64 related stuffs are you going to discuss (exactly)?
