Then people bring up excise tax. Excise tax depends on the selling price, which is set by the company themselves, i.e. Proton, UMW, Tan Chong, Honda Malaysia.

Really people are reacting to 1990s and early 2000s situations.

Politician statements has worsen the situation. Basically, it was the game played by politician that lead to what happened to Proton today.

Today i told my colleague that I had tested drive proton preve last saturday and fell very nice and want buy.. After this, all bang me that proton useless d, cant lasts long.. All ask me go see Toyota and honda.. But then i tell them if pocket blank, then why force yourself to buy those car just for fame..

At least can feel proton preve quality better than previous model a lot.. Hmm, I would say why people hate it due to previous perception.. And also ppl hate it was protected.. Like now ppl will say Nokia, sony all noob.. Must use samsung and apple.. Just they are lack of updated knowledge.. Survey ourselves and get our own prefer choices.. No need care other people say d. No need argue or debate d.. Coz they not understand.. I'm not preve owner yet.. But highly possible will become owner in coming.

proton is a poor man's car, that's why your colleague ask you to buy kosong vios/city also better than preve.. better think twice

As an owner, I'm not gonna hide it from you, you will have to visit the SC one or two times to solve minor issues (mostly rattles or unknown sounds), which none of them is in any way affecting the performance or safety.

Since you will be driving on highway a lot, I believe this is the best car for you given your needs and budget. FC will not be that good before your 1k service, but everything will be better in time.

Thats just the beginning.

If you really buy the car, they will start looking at you one kind, talk behind your back, say you poorfag or maybe need to help family member settle gambling debt deswai buy Proton. Some just wanna join the herd mentality, because you know, bashing Proton is fashionable. I bet they don't know anything about cars outside of T/H.

I currently drive a Fiesta, I told my friend I might trade my Fiesta for a Preve or Suprima next year, I think his brain almost exploded. He told me better keep the Fiesta la, why buy Proton la, buy the lowest spec Honda Accord like him la etc. etc. padahal his Accord d/p was paid by his dad and every month he also sakit hati when paying 1/3 of his income for the installment. But you know, asalkan ada muka, coz he is in sales.

I just told him instead of buying one Accord, I'll buy 2 Preves and I get 12 airbags.

not saying honda or toyota not good.. they are quite expert in this industry ady.. every people measurement of things are different. so just follow our own measurement and choose the one suits us.. cause money is ours. plan and use it without regret.

i will use highway almost everyday.. each day possible 60+~70+ km.. im stay penang.. go island work.. using second bridge or 1st bridge.. coz working hour flexible, i can work at 9am or above.. anytime is ok.. so mostly i can drive 110km/h.. no jam.. only the time back will got jam sometime.. but not everyday for my case.. currently rm50~70 per week petrol.. toll rm40~50 per week..

with new car, if 1.6L, i think petrol around the above right now or better is around the same.. coz highway all the time.. my house go toll entry 2km.. company from toll 2km.. i can say hardly to jam for me unless on bridge.. so petrol will much save than normal usage..


i feel everything need step by step la. everyone family background different.. in your friends case, (assuming) he can afford accord mean not a simple person ady.. but depend on his age.. if around 35~40 i think ok.. if around 25~28, i feel too young.. but he is doing sales, always need be confident and show his capable.. for me, no need go to maximum loan that we can.. distribute to each partition of expenses.. my planning is 24th years old buy car, 25th,26th buy house. (the house beside my me, and plan to combine 2 in 1 in future). 28th~30th like that can marry

i plan to buy car is trying to trade off my dad old car.. PROTON TIARA.. waa legend ady for this car.. but if buy proton preve, SA willing to trade it around1k~1.5kk so i feel ok ma.. my house stil got another 2 cars..

For a fresh graduate like you, the Preve Turbo is more than good enough. Even if it has its own shortcomings and weaknesses(which car doesn't), at RM70k you cannot complain much. It is pretty much the most value for money sedan in my book.

Though you have to consider why people go for other vehicles that may not not be value-for-money such as the Japanese for instance, as it is seen to be more reliable with higher QAQC which translates to less rattling sound in the cabin. Although the Preve TUrbo is comparable in terms of power, or perhaps even more powerful than say the Toyota Altis, Honda Civic and Nissan Sylphy, if you disregard the value of the Preve Turbo and look at the overall quality, the T, H and N are all better built with higher levels of refinement. I have owned the Sylphy and it is one of most powerful and quietest vehicle in its price range. No rattling sound at all in the first 4 years, and only minor rattling comes up from the suspension due to wear and tear after 5 years. For the Preve Turbo, I get not only minor rattling sound from the gear lever area but intermittent rattling from the passenger door. The most apparent unrefinement of the Preve Turbo, for me, is the loud Turbo engine and CVT "woo woo" sound during acceleration at all driving conditions, apart from QAQC issues.

A caveat though. My Preve Turbo is now about 9 months old and 15,000km clocked on the mileage. The engine and CVT sound during acceleration seems to be louder now and has an "unrefined" quality to it compared to when the vehicle is less than 10,000km. The reliability of the car is pretty much unknown. I will report back when the car has completed the 20,000km service with the engine oil replaced to a higher quality type, to see if the unrefined/unpleasant roar from the engine can be reduced.

Yes, agreed to take it step by step especially for a young man like you who just graduated. Dont' need to aim for the skies unless you come from a rich family and your parents can afford to pay a large chunk of downpayment of a >RM100k car for you. For me, my philosophy, is to choose the shortest car loan as much as you can afford. If you cannot afford to pay for high monthly downpayments for short periods, get a cheaper car. I never take a loan that is more than 5 years. For my Ford Focus I wanted 3 years loan but the bank doesn't offer that as they wanted minimum 5 years. For the PReve Turbo I paid cash(I am an old man already, so yeah). If possible, try to limit your loan to not more than 6 years. To each his own anyway.

Because there is no pride in saying, I like Proton cars.

My Preve is just doing great, perfect, no major issues. No headache, just enjoyment.

every car has its problem. whether its minor or major/ or even it affects you hardly or not. Im also looking forward for preve in my next car and even with minor issues i believe that is the use of having a warranty scheme to replace and fix all your problems. I do owned the very 1st batch persona for the time being, the car is problem free and only minor service is done during the ownership period till date with the mileage of 182k km till date. power windows despite people hated it so much, my car do not give any issues for power window since day 1. Just choose the car you like and enjoy it, dont bother about people.

To me, i hv own a few cars in the past. which is a mix of local and import cars. As i currently own a nissan then i bought a preve for my wife used. at first, my wife is not so sure about the preve. after drving both car for the last 2 month, she told me that the preve is much more controtable than the nissan. So, this lesson she was taught that, when come to things u want to use, is better u actually test it n buy which i done it. i tested all the same segment car. although is not the best quality build up, but at least, when come to meet the requirement, is suite us the best. whr u can get 6 air bag with this price. plus handling, is much more firm. whr my nissan is abit floating... so, buy what u nd. not what u want to show off..
