yea i mean hantu kak limah since the jin pakai toncet one borrow its popularity by using the name hantu kak limah 2. zombi kampung pisang is nice but ending quite wtf. its still great but i like hantu kak limah a bit more. imo mamat khalid lost his touch since he join the maharaja lawak crowd and produce shitty and unnecessary sequels like jin pakai toncet and rock oo.

Yeah something is definitely off with Jin Pakai Toncit but I'm not sure if it is an afterthought because I think he was planning it since Zombi Kampung Pisang (b4 the surprising popularity of Hantu Kak Limah). I heard there is another Kampung Pisang movie coming up soon. I'm totally fine with Rock Oo though as I am huge fan of rock kapak haha (I agree that the story was already complete in Rock, but Rock Oo is equally enjoyable on its own).

My favorite Mamat Khalid's work is actually Rombongan Cik Kiah Ke Sukan Komanwel. That's the best comedy, ever

I wonder if he will direct a really serious movie (non comedy and non parody). He wrote the screenplay for Puteri Gunung Ledang and it's the best Malaysian epic we had yet.

between Yasmin Ahmad's Sepet, Gubra & Mukhsin i like Mukhsin the best.

prolly because i feel it doesn't have any hidden agenda and intended controversy. plus the kids were pretty good actors.

i also like Pisau Cukur but that's only because of Fazura..

KAMI is a serious themed show. Kind of sad really. But its the best at that time if you ask me.



Fast forward, watch SEPET for something new. The KL Gangster newer direction. All other movies in between is what the malay people call meleleh movies. Those love stories that have same theme that is religious and corporate world and love and love and love like that. Boring like hell. Else its those ghost comedy. Over played and got David Teo really rich. Until its not popular anymore.
