Ok it got posted today. But the weird thing is I hit my credit limit yesterday so have to pay off some amount and when I was back from HLB, I still can't make any transaction, it got reject somehow. Only today the transaction went through

A thing to share from my friend,

He changed his category from dining to utilities on May and performed the transaction of utilities (pay TNB at payonline) on 30th April. The transaction was posted on 2nd May but when he received his statement on the first week of June, he found out that the transaction was not tagged with the category of utilities. However subsequent utilities transactions made in May were all tagged as utilities category so he doesn’t think it is the MCC code problem. He thinks that it was the transaction date that matters as in April his selected categories were dining and petrol, not utilities. He has raised this issue to HLB CS and they are still checking for him. I thought since the posting date is in May so he will get the rebate. But not in this case? So any idea what is the problem?

He requested to change his category back in early April. So the new category should take effective on 1st May.

Since cashback is per posting date, don't you think there should be cashback given?

CS confirmed that it was started on 1st May. Every new category effective day will be on the 1st of next month. Unless the date of request to change category is made after 28th of each month, then it will take effective on the next 2 months.

Fair enough. My best guess is that because his TNB bill was going to due very soon.

Maybe he already missed a few payment? IDK.

Starbucks at IKANO Power Center is not considered as dining category! Lost my RM5 cash back

Already sent msg via HL Connect. Most probably gonna receive reply like "their MCC code is not under dining bla bla bla". Also, I swiped at Brussels Beer Cafe and felt a bit regret after swiping, but to my amazement CS said it was under dining. But when the statement came it does not fall under dining category. I saw it coming though.

Nope. But I have asked in the message. Will update here later. My best guess is 5813.

Most of my dining transactions are usually around RM20-RM70. I usually swipe within these amount because I am sure to hit 10 times RM50 with TNB and Mobile transactions. So far for the first few months all my dining transactions were all recognized as dining. Only then this sort of nonsense appeared out of nowhere and hit me hard in the face. Caused my effective cash back to be lesser each month.

I might switch to petrol next time, so far utilities and mobile all no problem. For this month I am still hesitate to swipe my Wise card at any dining outlet. Scared already.

This is the reply from HLB CS:

Cash back will be awarded based on merchant’s corresponding Merchant Category Code (MCC) or the Merchant’s Description assigned on the chosen categories. The assignment of merchant category or merchant description for each merchant is subject to classification by respective acquiring banks or the merchant banker. The assignment of Merchant Category for each merchant is subject to classification by the respective acquiring banks and it is the responsibility of the particular acquiring bank to assign the correct Merchant Category. HLB shall not be held responsible for any incorrect assignment of the Merchant Category that may result in non-posting of the Cash-Back for retail transactions at the eligible merchants. The Cardholder shall not be entitled to claim for any compensation against HLB for such non-posting of the Cash-Back due to incorrect assignment of the Merchant Category by the respective merchant’s acquiring bank.

I think the "Approval date + ~1 month" means 1 month after approval date.

Well now that you mentioned it, previously I was holding a Mach CC and 6 months later added Wise CC, yet I got my GST for Wise CC credited back, until now no annual fee charged/waiver.

I didn't call..since HLB is so kind to credit it back I will just keep quiet about it.
I was charged GST as well, maybe they will credit it back to you a few months later?
