I managed 1500 for everything (990 for OW) excluding flight ticket when I did mine in Perhentian and was there for 6 days. All classes were done on the island.

Everything was normal price as I didn't take any package, I just went with a budget in mind.

full course on island and doing theory on land and OW dives in island is different in pricing, they would let you learn the skills required in pool until they know you are comfortable in water before letting you go into the open sea. might be 2 weeks or even 1 month of pool training, depending on the instructor.

better to get it checked by an ENT for better diagnosis. We are not medical practitioners so susah to give any advise.

Since you have had sinus since young and is on medications, I assume you have your regular ENT as well. So best to go to the ENT and get it checked. It's common among those who suffer from sinus but better be safe than sorry.

I also know only the 3 local dc mentioned by munkeyflo with pool attached, maybe there are more, not sure... Diver Den and Seamonkeys will be at MIDE, not sure abt Long...

I was certified OW by Diver Den PJ. Normally, instructor conducts theory class for abt 1 hr, a short rest and pool session, might take 2-3hr or longer. Whole theory class + review + exam + pool confine water shall be finished in 1-3 week depends on everyone schedule. Thereafter, you can discuss with instructor when is you exam dives at open sea, normally at Redang Kalong Resort. Then, i decided to do so 2 months later thus i can have some practice (Main purpose for taking up OW at a local dc, for me lah), i did 7-8 pool sessions before going to redang. Nervous only before 1st exam dive, thereafter, holiday mode........

Oya... i met up with instructors b4 committing myself on the OW... detail on the course bla bla bla and tcss... my preference might not be your choice

Tat building entrance n environment looks very creepy to me. Shop located in the 3th floor and not 4th floor as mentioned in the website.

Only certain stuff is cheap. Their BCD n reg after discount is bout same price as rainbow runner after discount. Their opening sales end soon (end of may). Rainbow runner gives 25% anytime as long as you purchase reg, BCD, gauge etc. other like fins mask accessories u hav to buy more only eligible to "ask" for additional discount.

They can't go lower than rainbow runner as RR is the distributor. They control the price and if they not happy with you breaking the rates they won't supply you.

Collection of coz a lot. Even if you able to get closer to their boss, who's know he can give u some "under table" deals. at least i know he does that to few of my friends.
*Under table means slightly more than 30%...

For example: RR sell item A for RM750 as published rate/walk in rate and they give no discount as they claimed it is already at discounted rate. He sell item A to my friend at RMXXX and my friend sell to me at RM650 and still earning some profit from it. From this, how much u think RR selling item A to my friend? hint: its a dive com. And you can never find any cheaper rate in Malaysia unless its an used set/from oversea.

Yup. Hence, RR can give the best deal.
Totally agreed. They somehow "monopoly" Mares market in Malaysia.

Last year i went to their booth. Same price, less items.

You can say RR is the main distributor for Mares products. They supply quite a lot of diving stuffs to other dive businesses as well.
