Interesting that the once in the in onwards gpu usage takes a nose dive.
CPU bottleneck prehaps..

odd that this doesnt happen my desktop.

Tested with Intel Turbo Boost disabled?

Turbo enabled. This is the max percformance the notebook can churn out. Trust me i checked the data. Only posted graphs of actualy gameplay fps. Not cutscenes. Tested this few times n got the samething. Drop in gpu utilization. Cpu utilization also didnt show anything extraodinary.

Will check later with desktop n try to nerf the gpu to a equivalent gtx970m.also redo the test since patch 1.03 is out.

Btw i didnt post clearly but it happens from the inn part onwards

Btw my desktop vid@ultra 1440p. Skip to the inn part. Fps n gpu utilization good.

hi cstkl1, there will be an update for  the nvidia drivers for the  witcher 3 . i am not sure if its out yet.
*
Patch 1.03. FPS and utilization all good.

Seriously surprise the game can run at this settings that Nvidia GFE optimizes. basically a mixture of High/Ultra with Motion blur/blur/dof ( stupid settings anyway that i dont use on all games unless u like blur) disabled. with Hairworks disabled.

So with the graph above just ignore the framerate dips on the low utilization

Will redo the video and benchmark fps.....

but definitely above 40 again.

few notes. steam is stupid. Sometimes it messes up my graphic settings between desktop and laptop when it syncs the saves.

Nice.
Would you like to try comparing with other laptops built with gtx970m too? I really hope to see the difference between the graphic performance on Z5 with other laptops such as Asus ROG g751JT, MSI GE62 2QF etc.

Just a suggestion.
*
Ure sponserin?. Sure. But seriously its just cooling performance that affects the gpu/cpu which is evident on synth results.

For the Witcher 3, on my rig, the framerate will only dip during the morning sunshine and dusk. That is when every movements affect the processing of light rays.

All in all, great game Witcher 3

Dont get that with main rig n laptop.

But really annoying that steam syncs the gpu settings.

Also witcher has issues with ulmb.

ULMB?

My issue is if you turn too fast. I disabled Vsync, so maybe this affects that.

As for 980M SLI? I will wait for the next gen. Wait till the hardware is really designed for DirectX12.
*
Ultra low motion blur.

Vsync disabled. Since its a singld 970m oddly enough havent really seen any tearing that i would on desktop.

Because of edp??

When I "refreshed" my Windows, it seems that certain settings were kept, such as my documents, etc, all on D instead of my C.

For some reason some programs just refuse to install into other drives claiming must C only (like Intel stuffs)
Is there a proper guide to this? I have 32GB of RAM, so i would definitely love this. I have an inkling of an idea what you're saying, because i've tried some guides on "lessening" read write stuffs on the SSD, but I'm just buzzed out why the temperature is so damn high.
*
Dude ramdrive is silly. Cause if its a repeat job its just gonna always image back from ure ssd. So whats the point.

Just disable pagefile, prefetch, superfetch etc.
Although some games/program requires it. Hibernation requires pagefile. The amount is reflected based on ure ram state.
Dont worry about nand write wears. I have pushed ssds to their nand limits. Formating ssds once in a blue moon is fine as well. Just make sure defrag is not enabled.

As for temps.. This is the side cost for cheaper ssds with smaller nand fabrication..

My old x25m in my destop were 20s. Now corsair neutron gtx, xt, crucial mx100, mx200 all sit at 30s .Mind you this is on a tj11 in a room that has 24/7 ac at ambient temp 19.2c.

Use them. Chuck them. Paid rm900 for 80gb few years back. Now can get 512gb. Last year thats the cost for 256gb. So dont worry about it.

Newer ssds allow sleep on raid example mx200. Use them.

Hi bro. Can you suggest for me the best value-for-money set in 4 followed set ? The games I play are mainly FIFA and FIFA Online. According to the latest Illegear promotion:

- Z5 with i7-4720HQ, 960M 4GB, RAM 16GB DDR3: RM5006.

- Z5 with i7-6700HQ, 960M 4GB, RAM 16GB DDR4: RM5226.

- Z5 with i7-4700HQ, 970M 6GB, RAM 16GB DDR3: RM5606.

- Z5 with i7-6700HQ, 970M 6GB, RAM 16GB DDR4: RM6225.
Is the chip i7-4700HQ weaker than i7-4720HQ and i7-6700HQ ?

Thanks in advance  smile.gif

about the same..

the difference is
6700HQ is cooler
chipset has PCIE sata
chipset has usb 3.1/type C

The answer is pretty straightforward. Z5 Skylake GTX970M for future proof.
*
y??
no usb 3.1 afaik, or type C
and with skylake dependence on Mobo VRM.. theres a higher chance of mobo degradation than haswell when long term expose to heat etc.

clock to clock 4720hq and 6700hq performs about the same with the former beating the later frequently.

So to be frank the gain is

1. CPU temps lower by 10C since theres no more integrated VRM
2. PCIE NVME SSD ( if u can afford a 512gb.. since anything lower doesnt make sense for a dedicated gaming laptop.. cheaper to get two msata ssd and raid them)
3. Support for 16gb single density dimm ram.

nothing is set for the future atm dude. The only gain ppl are talking about is temps.

So my advice choose based on ure budget with gpu u want first. 960m or 970m and then see whether it falls into haswell or skylake.

There is no such thing as future proofing. Just the Now

Thanks for your insight, which mean Haswell i7 4700HQ 970M vs Skylake i7 6700hq 970M performance are about the same? Except temperature and battery life utilisation is better?
*
yup
thats the only difference atm that counts.

pcie nvme ssd currently is not in the affordable range to count as a advantage
